Step1.Greeting the students:
1. Greet the whole class.
T: Good morning class !
S: Good morning teacher!
T: Today , we’re going to learn to describe people’s appearance .
Step2. Show two groups of pictures and ask students to observe these people :
He is tall
He is short.
He is of medium height .
Step 3. Whole class work
- Ask all the students to stand up and do the chant ,the first time ask students to do it slowly ,then do it faster:
tall ,medium ,short
tall .medium. short
tall ,tall ,medium ,medium,short ,short,short
heavy ,medium, thin,
heavy, medium ,thin
heavy ,heavy, medium ,medium,thin,thin
设计目的:通过这个活热身,调高同学们的学习兴趣的同时处不学习本课时的单词。
2.Ask students to do as I say .
3.Ask students to practice reading the words
4.Fast action .
Step3.Practice the target language
- All the students stand up and compare their height and build .
Eg: What does he look like?
He’s tall
He’s heavy.
She is short
She’s of medium build.
Step4.Group work
- Four students do a groupwork like this:
What does he look like ?
He’s tall and he’s heavy.
She’s ……
Step5.Ask students to perform the conversation .通过练习对所学的新知描述身高的基本内容进行输出,用以检测学习效果。
Step6.Learn to describe people’s hair .
- When the last group of students finished their performance ,the teacher gives the students a modal to describes these students’ hair .
Eg: Good performance !now let’s see their hair :
He has short hair
She has curly hair
She has straight hair
- Ask the students to look at the screen and talk about their hair style .
- Practice the words about hair style .
- Group work .
通过练习用于检测同学们学习提醒的基本内容的学习效果。

- ask students to practice describing the people like this:
He’s____ ,he’s____
He is of ______ build 。
He is of ______ height
He has _______ hair .
对所学的知识进行综合性的输出,提高同学们综合语言的运用能力。
- Comparing which group can describe more people .通过比赛提高学习兴趣和学习效率。

Step8 . Guessing game :
通过游戏提高综合语言的运用能力。对今天所学的知识以游戏的方式进行复习。
- Guess his/her hair style.
- Who is she/he?
Step9. Summary :
1. in this class ,we’ve learned some words and the target language used to describe people’s appearance. but you mustn’t judge people by their appearance .
2.Ask students to read the target language again .
Ⅷ. Homework
Write a small composition about your friends’ appearance.
