Step 1 Revision Students read the texts paragraph by paragraph. Please answer the following questions as quickly as possible. Try to use the sentences from the text: How many people are there in the story and who are they? Where did the two girls usually play in the park? What did they do after they heard a strange whisper? How did they feel? Who did they meet on their way home? How did Andy find the cat? How did Millie and Amy feel when they learnt the ghost was a weak cat? Where did they take the cat? Step 2 Presentation Ask Ss to mark the new words when they read the passage themselves and they work in groups of four to work out the problems of new words. Ss complete the exercises in Part B1. Help Ss grasp the usage of language points by creating proper situations and communicating with Ss. as usual e.g. As usual, the Wangs travelled abroad for the Spring Festival. carefully e.g. Tom puts the glass down carefully. leave e.g. Come on! It is time for us to leave. on one’s / the way e.g. I met my friend on my way to school yesterday. pick up e.g. She went over to the crying child and picked her up. search e.g. I often search the Internet for interesting information. surprised e.g. My mother looked surprised when I told her the news. weak e.g. The baby was very weak at birth. whisper e.g. She spoke to me in a whisper. Take advantage of some exercises to consolidate the sentence structures. Step 3 Practice Do a role-play show based on the text in groups of four. Each group has a student as the narrator. Give Ss five minutes to prepare for it and remind them that they should pay attention to their words, actions, looks. Choose three or four groups to present what they have prepared. |

Ss complete the exercises in Part B1.
