Do you know “Moser lamp(灯)”？ Do you believe that plastic bottles and water can be used as lamps? The brazilian scientist, Alfredo Moser, has invented a way to light a house without electricity.

Plastic bottles and some water are the materials that a “Moser lamp” needs.First a hole must be made in the roof(屋顶) and then the water­filled bottle is pushed into the hole.In this way, the sunlight can be reflected(反射) into the room through the water­filled plastic bottle.

In 2002, the country's electricity blackouts(断电) happened a lot in Brazil.In order to light his room without electricity, Mr.Moser started doing experiment.Once, his boss suggested that he should try the way that a plastic bottle filled with water can light the dry grass in the sun.This helped Moser and soon he worked out the lamp.

This invention has been widely used all over the world. It is lighting up the world now.Moser's lamps have been used in over 140,000 houses in the Philippines, as well as in 15 other countries.This invention had been used in over a million houses by the end of 2015.

He says that he has never thought his invention could be so popular.But it gives him so much pleasure when thinking of people using it.It is true that Alfredo Moser has changed the lives of a large number of people.
