In the film Forrest Gump(《阿甘正传》), there’s a famous saying, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.” It’s the same with blind boxes(盲盒).
Each of these small, sealed boxes contains one of many toy figures(图形) in a series. The buyers don’t know which figure they’ve gotten until they cut the packaging with scissors. The origin(起源) of blind boxes can be traced back(追溯) to lucky bags sold in Japan from the late 1860s. In recent years it has become big business in China.
During the double 11 shopping day, POP MART, a leading blind box company in China, sold 55,000 Labubu dolls on Tmall(天猫商城) in just 9 seconds according to a Tmall report.
One reason for their popularity is the lovely appearance of the figures inside the boxes. They’re like tiny cartoon characters. They can be placed anywhere in your home as a decoration(装饰). But another, perhaps more important reason people like them is to take pleasure in surprise.
“The most interesting thing about blind boxes is the gap(差距) between what you expect and what you get, ”said Wen Xi, a blind box collector from Beijing. The excitement of getting the exact figure you want is like winning a lottery (彩票).
While the boxes are certainly entertaining(娱乐)to some, others worry that children might spend too much money on these toys.
“The blind box economy takes advantage of gambling psychology(赌博心理),” said Liu Chunsheng, an associate professor at Central University of Finance and Economics. “ Young people tend to look for the excitement brought by uncertainty and higher risks, which leads to impulse buying(冲动消费).”
Last year, over 200, 000 Chinese customers spent more than 20, 000 yuan collecting blind boxes. Most of them were Generation Z, or those born after 1995, according to a report by Tmall.

2.What does the underlined word “sealed “mean ________.

B.there are surprises in the boxes when people open them
C.people can get the figures inside the boxes they expect
D.the figures inside the boxes have special appearances
4.What can we learn from the passage?
A.The boxes attract buyers with peoples gambling psychology.
B.Young people after 00s are especially interested in the boxes.
C.Young people always buy blind boxes on a sudden impulse.
D.Actually, the cartoon characters in the boxes are very real.
5.The best title for the passage is ________.
    A.Life is like chocolates

PED(Partial eclipse disease)is a kind of bad eating habit. People with PED only like or dislike some kind of food. It happens to babies and children most. Some old people have such a problem, too.
    Why does it happen?
You are one of the main reasons. When you don’t eat some food often, your children see it and soon follow you. Also, too much love from the one-child family makes children get bad eating habits easily. Some children with low Zn levels might have PED, too.
What do children with PED usually do?
When you find your children have one of such symptoms, you have to take it seriously.
*Only eat meat for a meal, leaving rice there.
*Never eat vegetables but always eat so much junk food.
*Enjoy all drinks such as cola, milk and yogurt and they even think of them as main food.
*Eggs are their favorite food and they eat at least three to four eggs a day.
How to help your children with PED? Add Zn to children’s food. Try to let children eat more food with Zn such as fish, liver(肝脏), oysters(牡蛎) and other kind of meat.
Sometimes medicine with Zn is necessary too. Set a good example for them. You are the best teacher for your children.
6.How many reasons are there about why PED happens?
    A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
7.What do children with PED usually do?

Mr. Guo is a teacher from Xi’an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code(二维码). “We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate(使产生)the codes, and in the end everything gets easier. ”Said Guo. “When students finish the homework, they keep in on WeChat(微信). The “three ox spirit”(三牛精神)first appeared in President Xi Jinping’s speech at a New Year’s gathering last December. The ox is a symbol of diligence (勤劳), progress and strength. On Feb 18, the first working day of the new year, Hua Chunying, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, explained it on the social media to encourage people with the “three ox spirit”—the serving-the-people ox, the pioneering ox, the persisting ox.
Centuries ago, most people earned their living through farming. The ox was used to help in the field and carry heavy goods.
The ox has played an important place in Chinese culture. Ancient Chinese poets and writers often described the ox in literature. In the Classic of Poetry, the oldest collection of Chinese poetry, the animal was mentioned in nine out of the 305 pieces.
Oxen seldom bully (欺负) the weak or fear the strong. They work hard and make sacrifices (牺牲). A poem by Lu Xun (1881-1936) — “Fierce-browed, I coolly defy a thousand pointing fingers; Head bowed, like a willing ox I serve the children (横眉冷对千夫指,俯首甘为孺子牛)” fully expresses the poet’s love to our country and the people.
So naturally, those who were born in the Year of the Ox are often expected to be hardworking and dependable. “They never want to be the center of attention or look for praise,” the website China Highlights noted.
11.When was the “three ox spirit” first appeared?
    A.2018. B.2019. C.2020. D.2021.
12.What is not in the “ three ox spirit” ?
    A.The progressing ox. B.The serving-the-people ox.
C.The pioneering ox. D.The persisting ox.
13.Which of the following is right?
A.The ox was used to help carry light goods.
B.Ancient Chinese poets and writers seldom described the ox.
C.The Classic of Poetry is the oldest collection of Chinese poetry.
D.Nine percent of the 305 pieces in the Classic of Poetry mentioned the ox.
14.Why did Lu Xun choose the ox to use in his poem?
A.Because the ox is weak. B.Because the ox is loving.
C.Because the ox is helpful. D.Because the ox is proud.
15.What are the people born in the Year of the Ox like?
A.They always want to look for praise. B.They want to be the center of attention.
C.They are hardworking and dependable. D.They bully the weak and fear the strong.
    【语篇解读】
    文章大意:本文主要介绍了“三牛精神”,以及牛在中国文化中扮演的重要角色。
11.C【解析】推理判断题。根据“The “three ox spirit”(三牛精神)first appeared in President Xi Jinping’s speech at a New Year’s gathering last December.”“三牛精神”首次出现是在去年12月习近平主席在新年聚会上的讲话中。今年是2021年,因此可知“三牛精神”首次出现应是在2020年,故选C。
12.A【解析】细节理解题。根据“Hua Chunying, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, explained it on the social media to encourage people with the “three ox spirit”—the serving-the-people ox, the pioneering ox, the persisting ox.”
根据“In the Classic of Poetry, the oldest collection of Chinese poetry,”在中国最古老的诗集《诗经》中,可知,《诗经》是中国最古老的诗集,故选C。
14.B【解析】推理判断题。根据“Oxen seldom bully (欺负) the weak or fear the strong. They work hard and make sacrifices (牺牲).”牛很少欺侮弱者或惧怕强者。他们努力工作,做出牺牲。以及““Fierce-browed, I coolly defy a thousand pointing fingers; Head bowed, like a willing ox I serve the children” fully expresses the poet’s love to our country and the people.”“横眉冷对千夫指,俯首甘为孺子牛”,充分表达了诗人对国家和人民的爱。由此可推知鲁迅用牛来作诗是因为牛有爱心,以此来表达他对国家和人民的爱;故选B。
15.C【解析】细节理解题。根据“So naturally, those who were born in the Year of the Ox are often expected to be hardworking and dependable.”牛年出生的人往往被期望是勤劳和可靠的。由此可知牛年出生的人是勤劳和可靠的,故选C。

Over the past year, COVID-19 has forced people to give up most of their travel plans. Now in a world with social distancing and limited flights, what will travel be like? Airbnb, a US-based home-sharing company, has used surveys to predict trends(预测趋势).

    Getting back to nature
In China, 76 percent of those surveyed want to “travel to suburban(近郊的)areas” or even “move to the countryside” in the coming year.
In the US, 62 percent expressed interest in taking a vacation that is closer to home in a more natural environment, such as a tree house or cottage(乡间小屋).

    Remote(远程的)working and traveling
Because of COVID-19, remote working and schooling became a lifestyle for many people in 2020. Airbnb says this will blur(模糊)the line between working and traveling.
On Airbnb, people who have the chance to work from anywhere are actively booking longer stays(two week-plus trips). They prefer small-to-mid-size cities with natural environments and more open spaces. In China, 64 percent of people are considering “going to a new place to live and work remotely”, or “traveling while on a business trip”.

    Staying more connected
Pod travel, in which people choose to travel together as a family or a group of friends, will become a trend. This way, people can stay safe and reduce the risk of socializing with others.
On Airbnb, more than half of the trips that are being planned for 2021 include three or more travelers.

    16.What is Airbnb?
A.A traveling company. B.An airline company.
    C.A car-sharing company. D.A home-sharing company.
17.How many percent of those surveyed want to take a vacation that is closer to home in the US?
    A.19. B.62. C.64. D.76.
18.What does the underlined word “this” refer to?
    A.COVID-19. B.Working at home.
    C.Homeschooling. D.Remote working and schooling.
19.Which city will people who have the chance to work from anywhere book on Airbnb?
    A.Mount Wuyi. B.Hangzhou. C.Shanghai. D.Beijing.
20.Why will Pod travel become a trend?
A.Because people can stay safe. B.Because people want to be popular.
C.Because people want to be different. D.Because people love socializing with others.
