教学内容分析

听说部分包含一篇短文和一段访谈听力材料，短文介绍了人类大脑的相关事实和数据，让学生对人脑的功能和当前对人脑的研究情况有基本的了解。而采访介绍了科学家们探究与睡眠相关的各种奥秘。本板块帮助学生深度聚焦语言的意义和功能，通过真实语境下技能的综合训练，加深对单元主题的理解，提高综合语言运用能力。

教学目标

1）了解人脑的相关事实和数据和当前人脑的研究情况；

2）明晰听力访谈的主题，边听边记笔记提取关键信息完成表格；

3）找出关于调查研究访谈相关的表达，并运用到活动对话中；

4）点燃探索科学之谜的渴望，养成良好作息习惯。

3.教学重点和难点

教学重点：

1）提取听力的关键信息，找出与调查研究访谈相关的表达，能够运用到介绍睡眠奥秘的主题演讲之中；

2）小组合作进行角色扮演，揭秘恐龙灭绝之谜，要求学生做到将新旧知识融合，并准确运用所学呈现出来。

教学难点：

听力过程中快速准确提取信息；对恐龙灭绝的背景知识可能比较匮乏。

4.教学过程

Activity 1 Reading and thinking	Teacher asks students to read the passage and discuss the questions in groups. (1) What funcitons of the brain are mentioned in the passage? (2) What is the current research situation concerning the brain? (3) Do you know any other interesting facts about the brain? Share them with the class. Teacher asks some students to share their answers. Teacher checks the answers with the class.	To help students get more insights concerning the topic.	Raising awareness
Activity 2 Lead-in	Watch a video and think about the questions. (1) What are the benefits of sleep? What are the sides effects for lack of sleep?	To have basic understanding about why we need sleep and the advantages of good sleep as well as the disadvantages of lack of sleep.	Preparing for listening
Activity 3 Listening	Teacher asks students to listen to the audio and finish Activity 8 on page 55. Teacher asks students to share their answers and check the answers with students. Teacher asks students to listen again and complete the table in Activity 9. Teacher asks students to work in groups and exchange their answers.	To have more insights into the expressions concerning to the topic.	Acquisition and sorting information
Activity 4 Deliver a speech	Teacher helps students to go over the useful expressions in the previous lessons and get ready for the task of delivering a speech by introducing sleep-related mysteries.	To learn to apply what have been learned in context.	Application
Activity 5 Sorting	Teacher asks students to classify the expressions and put them into the corresponding blanks. Teacher checks the answers with students.	To better understand the function of the useful expressions.	Consolidation
Activity 6 Group Work-- Role Play	Students play as different roles and conduct an interview with an archaeologist to uncover the myth why dinosaurs disappeared from the earth by using the words and expressions in this section.
