Module 8  Accidents

Unit 1

An accident report

We got a call that an accident happened round a corner on Centre Street. We got there quickly. A young woman was lying on the ground and looked pale. We were glad that she wasn’t badly hurt. We sent her to the hospital in time.

How did the accident happen? Two women were riding bikes quickly side by side along the street when there appeared a truck(卡车). They wanted to avoid(避免) the risk of hitting the truck and turned to the other side of the road. One of the woman, Miss Yang, fell off her bike...

Safety is first. Everyone should pay attention to it and keep safe.

1. 当交通信号灯正要变成红灯时，一辆小汽车突然出现在拐角处。

While the lights were changing to red, a car suddenly appeared

round the corner.

2. 而且司机正在打电话。

And the driver was talking on his mobile phone.

3. 那辆小汽车恰好及时停了下来，但那个男孩从他的自行车上摔了下来，伤到了膝盖。

The car stopped just in time, but the boy fell off his bike and hurt

his knee.

4. 所以当你们骑自行车时，考虑一下事故的风险！

So when you’re on your bike, think about the risk of an accident!
