Good morning, teachers! It’s my great pleasure to have this opportunity to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is Lesson 1 Welcome to My Home! taken from English This Way Book 5 Unit 3 Happy Family. I’ll be ready to begin this lesson from 3 parts, my understanding of this lesson, my teaching theories, methods and aids, my teaching procedures. First, let me talk about my understanding of this lesson.
Part 1 My understanding of this lesson
The analysis of the teaching material
This lesson is about Rose and Tingting. Tingting invited Rose to visit her room and introduced it to her. The aim of the this lesson is to lead students to introduce the room by using “There be...”
The analysis of the students
The students in Grade 5 are very active, and they have learned “There be...” in Grade 4.

1. Knowledge object: to teach the students how to describe the room by using “There be...”
2. Ability object: to improve the students’ ability of speaking.
3. Emotion object: to inspire students’ love in their own home.

How to communicate with others and describe the room.

Part 2 My teaching theories, methods and aids
In my opinion, the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to develop the students’ ability of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of English language. Therefore, according to the modern social communication teaching theories. I’ll mainly adopt the 2 following teaching methods.
1. Task-based Language Teaching Approach

Part 3 Teaching procedures
In order to achieve my teaching aims, I have designed 6 teaching steps. The entire steps are: Greeting, Lead in, Listen and answer, Practice, Role-play, and Consolidation.
Step 1 Greeting
1. Good morning, boys and girls! Nice to meet you.
2. Divide the students into 4 groups. G1: Chair G2: Desk G3: Bookshelf G4: Bed
Step 2 Lead in
1. Put up a picture of my home and say “Welcome to my home!”
2. Put up a picture of my room and lead the students to say “Wow, it’s so nice!”
Purpose: It’s important to form a better English surrounding for the students, it provides situations for the next step.
Step 3 Listen and answer
1. Put up the first picture and ask the students to listen to the text, then answer the question: Whose home is it, and how do you know? [来源:学_科_网Z_X_X_K]
2. Put up the second picture and ask: Where are they? Yes, it’s in Tingting’s room. Then listen to the text and answer the question: How is Tingting’s room?
3. Look at these 2 pictures, what can you see in Tingting’s room? I’ll write down the words on the blackboard. And Tingting says: “This is my my bed and bookshelf.” So we can also say: There is ... in Tingting’s room.
4. Put up the forth picture, ask the students to listen to the text and answer: The computer is a gift from Tingting’s ________. At last, I’ll analysis the sentence one by one.
Purpose: Help the students understand the meaning of the text bylistening.
Step 4 Practice
1. Lead the students to read the whole text in different ways.
2. Tick or Cross the sentence, and check answers.
Purpose: Help the students understand the meaning of the text, and make sure they can read it correctly.
Step 5 Role-play
If you act with the book, you can get a sticker. If you can act without the book, you can get 2 stickers.
Purpose: to improve the students’ ability of speaking and communication.
Step 6 Consolidation
1. Let’s chant.
2. Lead the students to recall my room, so I’ll ask what’s in Miss Wen’s room. They can answer me like that: There is a bed in Miss Wen’s room.
Purpose: The students like chanting very much. In this way, they can review words and key sentences.
