(2022·河北保定·一模)When clouds of radiation began streaming into the air around the Fukushima nuclear plant, 160, 000 residents were told to simply cut and run. However, it seems only 159, 998 residents listened. The other two — Naoto Matsumura and Sakae Kato — remained. The two men would give up everything rather than let other beings starve.
Living within the 12.5-mile exclusion zone around the damaged reactor, the two men, unrelated to one another, both live alone while taking care of dozens of animals that were left behind when the evacuation order was given.
Reports from Reuters and DW state that 57-year-old Kato has 41 cats who live with him in his home in the mountains—along with a dog he adopted named Pochi. Kato says he will stay with his cats and ensure they are comfortable all through their lives.
Matsumura left the city at first, but returned shortly after for his own animals. Once returned, the now 55-year-old realized that everyone else's pets and livestock were still there, so he began taking care of a broad community of animals including pigs, cats, dogs, ponies, ostriches, and cows.
GNN reported that he went back inside the exclusion zone and realized local pet dogs had not eaten in several days. After it became clear that no-one was coming back to the neighborhood, he went around unchaining dogs from trees, letting cows out of their barns, and feeding anything in need, earning him the nickname the “Guardian of Fukushima's Animals”.
Everything both Kato and Matsumura are doing is risky. Though proud of what Kato and Matsumura have done, their friends and families hope that they can leave the dangerous area. Yet they seem to be determined in what they are doing and both plan to stay there with their animals, come what may.
24.What does the phrase “other beings” in paragraph 1 probably refer to?
A.Animals. B.People. C.Plants. D.Residents.
25.What kind of person is Sakae Kato?
A.Curious. B.Caring. C.Ambitious. D.Lonely.
26.What do we know about Naoto Matsumura?
A.He is 57 years old. B.He knows Kato very well.
C.He has dozens of animals to look after. D.He lives 12. 5 miles from the exclusion zone.
27.What can we infer about the two men from the text?
A.They will follow the advice of their families. B.They will call on more people to protect animals.
C.They stay in the mountains to enjoy loneliness. D.They have no regard for their own safety.
【答案】24.A 25.B 26.C 27.D

C
(2022·山西省新绛汾河中学模拟预测)Austrian company Tec-Innovation recently showed smart shoes that use ultrasonic(超声波) sensors to help people suffering from blindness or vision impairment(障碍)to detect obstacles up to four meters away.
Known as InnoMake, the smart shoe aims to become an alternative to the decades-old walking stick that millions of people around the world depend on to get around as safely as possible. The currently available model relies on sensors to detect obstacles and warns the wearer via shake and a hearable alert sounded on a Bluetooth-linked smartphone. That sounds impressive enough, but the company is already working on a much more advanced version that includes cameras and artificial intelligence to not only detect obstacles but also their nature.
"Not only is the warning that I am facing an obstacle relevant, but also the information about what kind of obstacle I am facing. Because it makes a big difference whether it’s a wall, a car or a staircase,” Markus Raffer, one of the founders of Tec-Innovation, told TechXplore.
"Ultrasonic sensors on the toe of the shoe detect obstacles up to four meters away. The wearer is then warned by shake and hearing signals. This works very well and is already a great help to me personally,” Raffer, himself visually impaired, added.
The advanced system is integrated in the front of the shoes, in a waterproof and dustproof case. It is powered by a heavy-duty battery that can last for up to one week, depending on use. The battery can be charged in just three hours, using a USB cable.
The next step for Tec-Innovation is to use the data collected by its system to create a kind of street view navigation map for visually impaired people.
"As it currently stands, only the wearer benefits in each case from the data the shoe collects as he or she walks. It would be much more sustainable if this data could also be made available to other people as a navigation aid,” computer scientist Friedrich Fraundorfer explained.
28.Who are the target consumers of the smart shoes?
A.The deaf people B.The hearing people
C.The bind or sight-impaired D.The short-sighted people
29.What does the second paragraph mainly tell us ?
A.The difference of the obstacle B.How the smart shoes worked
C.how to charge the shoes D.How to collect the data
30.What is Raffer’s attitude towards the smart shoes?
A.Doubtful B.Unclear C.Disapproving D.Favorable
31.What does the underlined word “integrated ” mean in the sixth paragraph?
A.Combined B.Separated C.Benefited D.Permitted
【答案】28.C 29.B 30.D 31.A

Chinese researchers say they believe a group of rockets could be used to change the path of asteroids that might pass near Earth.
A team at China’s National Space Science Center carried out simulations(模拟) on the proposed asteroid defense system. The scientists said their research suggests 23 rockets of China’s biggest kind of rockets could force a large asteroid to change direction. Most experts agree that there is only a small likelihood that a large asteroid or another space object will crash into Earth and cause great destruction. However, many organizations do recognize the real risk of such an event.
The Chinese research was based on defending against a specific asteroid, Bennu, which orbits the sun. Bennu is about a half-kilometer wide. It is considered a near-Earth asteroid. Bennu reaches its closest distance to Earth every six years. The researchers recently reported on their proposal in a study in a planetary science magazine called “Icarus”.
China’s Long March 5 rockets are a central part of the country’s space program. They have been used to launch space station elements and carry spacecraft to the Moon and Mars. China has successfully launched six Long March 5 rockets, since 2016.
Alan Green is a professor of astrophysics. He said he finds the idea of using rockets to act as an asteroid deflector (偏转器) “a rather nice concept”. Green continued, “By increasing the mass hitting the asteroid, simple physics should ensure a much greater effect.” He added, however, that the actual operation of such a mission needs to be studied further. Scientists say deflecting an asteroid’s path presents a lower risk than blowing up the rock with nuclear explosives, which may cause it to break into pieces without changing direction.
32.Who favors the opinion that Earth may be hit by asteroids?
A.Most space experts. B.Many organizations.
C.Most astrophysicists. D.Chinese researchers.
33.What do we know about “Icarus”?
A.A space object. B.A large asteroid.
C.A science publication. D.An asteroid deflector.
34.How does Alan Green find the Chinese researchers’ simulations?
A.Reasonable. B.Unbelievable. C.Suspicious. D.Practical.
35.What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A.Deflecting an asteroid’s path with rockets is risky.
B.Nuclear explosion can fully redirect an asteroid.
C.Small pieces of asteroid can hardly damage the earth.
D.Rockets will someway affect an asteroid’s travel path.
【答案】32.B 33.C 34.C 35.A

36.根据上文“Museums are centers filled with information designed to enlighten and educate the curious mind. Especially for children, museums introduce them to unknown worlds, inspire their imagination and provide them with valuable learning experiences. It's generally believed that museums only help fuel academic education.(博物馆是充满信息的中心,旨在启发和教育好奇的头脑。
37.根据上文“Museums offer children bigger connections and references to history than a traditional class. They play a huge role in impacting their historical knowledge and the innovation taking place before their eyes.(博物馆为孩子们提供了比传统课堂更大的历史联系和参考。他们在影响自己的历史知识和眼前发生的创新方面发挥着巨大的作用)” 可知,上文提到了博物馆可以给孩子提供历史联系,A选项中history对应上文中history。故A选项“父母自己不一定是历史爱好者”符合语境,故选A。

39.根据上文“Museums are well enough equipped to awaken curiosity in young minds, which in turn will lead to these children asking questions.(博物馆有足够的设备来唤醒年轻人的好奇心,这反过来会导致这些孩子问问题)”以及后文“Some of them might need a great deal of thought to answer and some of them might not have any answers at all. No matter what they asked, all of these questions must be equally encouraged and children must be given the confidence to find the answers to them on their own.(有些问题可能需要大量的思考才能回答,而有些问题可能根本就没有答案。无论他们问了什么,所有这些问题都必须得到同等的鼓励,必须给予孩子们自己找到答案的信心)”可知,本句是对孩子提出的问题是否能得到答案的说明,B选项中Some of these questions对应上文中questions。故B选项“这些问题中有一些可能马上就能得到答案”符合语境,故选B。
40.根据上文“Museums have the ability to leave its visitors in awe of the huge amount of information it holds. They provide inspiration to young children via its resources that leave them fascinated about the night sky and the solar system, the skeletons that keep them thinking about life before them, the artworks that arouse the creative mind, etc.(博物馆有能力让它的参观者对它所拥有的大量信息感到敬畏。他们通过其资源为孩子们提供灵感,让他们对夜空和太阳系着迷,让他们思考之前的生命的骨骼,激发创造性思维的艺术品,等等)”可知,本句为本段最后一句,应总结上文说明博物馆对孩子的作用:鼓励孩子们去梦想和探索。故C选项“总而言之,博物馆鼓励孩子们去梦想和探索”符合语境,故选C。
