Teaching Objectives:
1. Knowledge Objectives:
(1) Students will be able to master key words and phrases:
curly,straight,tall,medium,height,build,thin,heavy,be of medium height/build,a little
(2) Students will be able to master some sentence patterns.
2. Ability Objectives:
(1) Students will be able to know how to ask about and describe a person’s looks.
(2) Students will be able to recognize a person through the description of him/her.
(3) To improve students’ listening and speaking skills.
3. Emotion objectives:
(1) Students will be aware of the fact that everyone is special and unique in this world.
(2) Students will learn to treat one’s looks objectively.
(3) Students will learn not to judge others by their looks.
Teaching Important and Difficult Points:
1. Important Points
(1)Key words and phrases: curly,straight,tall,medium,height,build,thin,heavy,be of medium height/build,a little.
(2)Some sentence patterns.
2. Difficult Points:
Train students’ listening and speaking ability.
Teaching Procedure:
Step 1 Greetings.
Step 2 Leading-in
Make a guessing game to make students learn the new words and phrases.
Step 3 Presentation (1a)
1. Match the words with the people in the picture.You can use some letters more than once.
2. Let students classify the words in 1a into three groups: height, build and hair.
Step 4 Listening (1b)
- Listen to the dialogue of 1b and fill in the blanks.
- Listen to 1b again and try to find the sentence pattern for asking people’s appearance and the sentences for describing people.
Step 5 Practice (1c)
1. Practice the conversation with the given pictures.
2. Game Play
(1) One student stands in the front of the classroom, and the other students describe him/ her.
(2) One student describes his/ her best friend and the others guess who he/ she is.
Step 6 Listening (2a & 2b)
1. Listen and answer the questions. (2a)
(1) Is David tall or short? __________________
(2) Does Sally have long or short hair? _________________
(3) Is Peter tall or short? _________________
2. Listen again and fill in the chart. (2b)

Step 7 Game play(2c)
One student comes to the blackboard and the other students ask him/ her questions to guess who is the student’s favorite teacher.
Step 8 Moral education.
(1) Be yourself, you are always the special and unique one!No trading,no killing.
(2) Don’t judge others by looks!
Step 9 Homework.
Try to describe your family members from height, build and hair and then talk about with your partners.
