Step1

Warm-up

1. Students look at the diagram，  read the three short passage in activity 5 on page 54 and answer the two questions based on what they have read.
2. Teacher reminds the students to pay attention to the words and expressions in bold.
3. Students complete the passage with the correct form of the words and expressions in Activity5.

Step 2

Listening for main ideas

1. Students read 3 sentences and learn about bees.
2. Students read 6 sentences in Activity 7 and predict what the conversation talks about.
3. Students listen to the conversation and choose the the true statements.

Step 3

Listening for detailed information

1. Students browse some of the text in the flow chart in Activity 8 to know the activity they are going to complete.

2. Students listen again and make notes.

3. Students complete the flow chart and check the answers with the teacher.

4. Students work in groups and talk about the importance of bees.

Step 4

Listening for speaking

1.Teacher plays the recording for the third time and students

try to imitate pronunciation and intonation. Meanwhile， focus on the useful expressions of expressing doubt and responding to doubt.

2. Students discuss in groups and classify these expressions into the two boxes.

3. Several students share their answers and check the answers with teacher.

Speaking

1. Students work in pairs and discuss what would happen to the ecosystem if a species died out， using the words and expressions in this section.

2. Some pairs give an presentation in front of the class and the teacher makes comments on their performance.
