【语法提要】
1.let…dwn
let…dwn意为“使失望；辜负……的期望”，属“动词+副词”结构的短语，宾语是人称代词时，必须放在两词中间。近义词为disappint。let sb. dwn相当于make sb. disappinted或disappint sb.，意为“使某人失望”。
例句：The teammates felt srry that they had let the cach dwn. 队员们很抱歉他们让教练失望了。
He wn't let yu dwn. 他不会让你失望的。
Yu shuldn't let yur parents dwn. =Yu shuldn't disappint yur parents.你不应该让父母失望。
2.rather than
rather than意为“而不是”，后跟名词、代词、动词原形、不定式或v.ing形式。
例句：I'd like tea rather than cffee. 我想喝茶，而不是咖啡。
He decided t g ut rather than （t） stay at hme. 他决定出去，不待在家里。
She enjys singing rather than dancing.她喜欢唱歌，而不喜欢跳舞。
注意：rather than与instead f意思相近，但是instead f后跟名词、代词或v.ing形式，不能跟动词原形。
例句：I take a bus t g t wrk instead f driving a car.我坐公交车去上班，而不是开车去。
