Students should remember these phrases: ride a bike walk take the subway take the train take the car take the plane take the bus take the ship by bike on foot by subway by train by car by plane by bus by ship Learn Step 1 Ask students to do a pair work: Translate the following sentences into English:
Give students some minutes to finish the translation and then ask some pairs to show their dialogues in front of the class. Step 2 Ask students to read the sentences in Grammar Focus loudly. Have them pay attention to the structures of special questions and general questions. 1) How do you get to school? I ride my bike. 2) How does she get to school? She usually takes the bus. 3) How long does it take to get to school? It takes about 15 minutes. 4) How far is it from your home to school? It’s only about two kilometers. 5) Does Jane walk to school? No, she doesn’t. She goes by bike. 6) Do they take the bus to school? No, they don’t. They walk. Step 3 Ask students to match the questions with the answers in activity 3a. Then ask them to practice it with their partners. Step 4 Ask students to play a game to make questions with the given words. Step 5 Have students ask and answer with their partners. Step 7 Ask students to do a report to show their survey: In our group, ...lives about five kilometers from school. ...walks to school. ...takes a bus to school. ...goes to school by bike. ...needs about an hour to get to school. ...needs about 10 minutes to get to school. Language points 乘坐不同交通工具的表达方法有以下几种: 1.take+限定词+交通工具名称(常在句中作谓语):take the bus/train/subway等。 —How does your father go to Guangzhou?“你父亲怎样去广州?” —He takes the train.“他乘火车去。” 2.动词+to+地点名词(在句中作谓语)。这类动词有walk,drive,fly,ride等。 He rides to his friend's home.他骑车去他朋友家。 注意:动词(如walk,drive等)后面直接跟地点副词(here,there,home等)时,介词to要省略。 3.by+交通工具名称(在句中作状语):by bus / train / taxi / plane等。 —How do you go to Beijing?“你怎样去北京?” —I go to Beijing by plane.“我乘飞机去北京。” 注意: 该短语中交通工具名称前不加任何冠词,而且也不用复数形式。 Exercises Ask students to do some exercises that they have learned in the class.
