    The tpic f this part is “Learn abut a city that has diverse cultures”.
    This sectin is a travel jurnal. In the diary, Chinese student Li Lan recrded her trip f Califrnia and mainly intrduced her a day’s trip f San Francisc and what he had seen, heard and felt, frm the beginning interest in the city buildings t later better understanding f the diverse cultures’ influence t all aspects f the city. San Francisc is a place which shws the mix f American diverse cultures, like the Missin District where many frm Mexic r Central America live and Chinatwn where many Chinese made a living by shps and restaurants because f the gld rush in the 19th century. Therefre, many different cultures have been mixed frm the 19th century, amng f which is the Chinese culture.
    Diary is just a way f recrding daily life and has its wn frmat. The first line is the date, n the left r n the right. The bdy f dairy always is used t recrd what the writer saw, heard, did and thught all day with the first persn and past tense. Travel jurnal recrding the writer’s travel attractins, activities and thughts has the same frmat as the diary.
    Cncretely, Li Lan recrded her wn a day’s travel accrding t the timeline r time rder. In the first paragraph, he tld the reader her first impressin n San Francisc. In the secnd, third and furth paragraphs, he respectively described her activities, what he saw and heard and the next day’s plan in the mrning, afternn and tmrrw evening. In a day’s travel, the writer experienced and gradually understd the diverse cultures are filled with every crner f the city, which is als the theme meaning f the text.

    San Francisc is a city in Califrnia n the West Cast f the US. It is famus fr its Chinatwn and its sprts teams. Besides, it is ne f the wealthiest cities in the US by average incme, and is ften cnsidered ne f the best cities in the wrld t live in.

    Classify and rganize infrmatin
    We can better understand a passage by classifying r rganising the infrmatin, e.g. dates, numbers, pinins. Organising means putting things in rder, e.g. accrding t hw ld, hw much, what kind. Smetimes it is a gd idea t draw a diagram t rganise the infrmatin in the passage.

    One culturally diverse place that I have been t is Harbin, the capital city f Heilngjiang Prvince. I went there last year with my family t see the Ice and Snw Festival, and I was amazed at hw the culture as different t mst ther Chinese cities. There is a big Russian influence there, with beautiful Russian architecture and lts f interesting restaurants. I learnt that Harbin is called “the Oriental Mscw” and that many Russians settled there t help build the railway ver 100 years ag.
    Q2: What are the benefits and challenges f cultural diversity ?
    The benefits: Peple are able t experience a wide variety f cultures, making their lives mre interesting, and it can deepen the feelings fr ur natinal culture, it is als helpful fr us t learn abut ther utstanding culture, which helps imprve the ability t respect thers.
    The challenges: Peple may have truble cmmunicating r understanding each ther, and it may lead t disappearance f sme civilizatins and even make sme peple think “The western mn is runder than his wn.”
