    One day,as she was helping a few visually damaged children crss the rad,it struck her hw difficult even everyday tasks culd be fr them,let alne finishing their educatin. Ms Nagaraj wanted t help thse children.
    In India,mst children with sight challenges d nt have access t specialised schling. Even fr thse wh attend mainstream classes, timed exams-key fr Indian educatinal institutins, where scres are especially imprtant-present additinal difficulties. "Many f them balk at the thught f writing exams and drp ut," says Ms Sundararaman, a lcal educatin expert. "And s, their educatin cmes t a sudden stp, midway." Having a scribe can be the difference between passing and failing.
    Over the past 12 years, wrd abut Ms Nagaraj's wrk has spread-s much that she nw gets requests frm peple frm all ver India. She has als set up a netwrk f vlunteers that psts requests thrugh a WhatsApp grup.
    Ms Nagaraj is keenly aware f nging challenges, the chief f which is that, every nce in a while, she has t refuse requests frm students t give them the answers during exams. Anther challenge is t expand the circle f scribes. Despite these, she is very grateful fr having the pprtunity t help thers. "I have n cmplaints. Actually, I feel very blessed," she says.
