Scientists are urging that deep sea metal mining shuld be stpped temprarily.They warn in a reprt that it can cause severe and damaging effects n Pacific Ocean areas.
The recently-released reprt examined mre than 250 published studies n deep Sea mining.The research was examined by the Deep Sea Mining Campaign-a cllectin f nt-fr prfit rganizatins.The reprt centers n mining activities related t small metallic particles,called ndules,fund n the seabed.The material can cntain different metals.Increasing demand fr these metals has led t a rise in deep-sea mining peratins.The metals are cmmnly used in battery manufacturing and ther technlgy prducts.
Hwever,the scientists warn that mining fr these ndules will cause irreversible damage t an cean already under pressure.The peratins will affect areas acrss the Suth Pacific,including the natins f Kiribati,the Ck Islands,Nauru,Tnga and Papua New Guinea.
