    Pumpkins like the sun but als need t have wet sil(土壤). At the start f the UK's grwing seasn in June, it was warm and sunny. The pumpkins culd start t grw well. Then, in July, it rained a lt.It was the wettest July in the UK since 2009. This wet weather made it “ perfect fr grwing pumpkins”, said Steve Whitwrth. He wrks at Oakley Farms in the UK.
    Because f the wet weather, the pumpkins in the UK are bigger this year. A man frm suthern England grew a pumpkin f 636. 8 kilgrams. It was s big that peple needed t use a truck t mve it.

    *Peple need patience t grw pumpkins! It takes 120 days fr a pumpkin t be ready t pick.
    *Pumpkins are nt vegetables. They are fruits! This is because they grw frm a flwering plant.
    *Yu can eat all the parts f a pumpkin, including the seeds (种子), skin(外皮),leaves and flwers.
    *Pumpkins are 90 percent water.
    *There are abut 45 different types f pumpkins, and they can als be different clrs like range, red, yellw and green.

    A “Human Library”Cllects Students’ Special Experiences
    Alan Jnes is an 8th grade student at Green High Schl in the US. He and 34 ther middle schl kids decided t be part f the Human Library. It's a special event where students share stries abut their lives, whether they are gd r bad.
    Jnes shared his adptin (收养) stry. One day when he was nly three, he was called t the dinner table fr an imprtant family meeting.“I was given a paper and I did nt knw what was ging n,”he said. Then he fund that he was being adpted by his new dad. “Idid nt knw what a dad was. I was s excited.”
    Andrew, a teacher at Green High, helped rganize the event. “It's nt abut just hearing peple's stries,” said Andrew. “It's abut changing yur mind and cming t a new understanding thrugh empathy (同理心).”
    The Human Library started in Eurpe in 2000 and has spread t schls and rganizatins all arund the wrld. This is the secnd time they did it at Green High.
    Jane is anther 8th grader wh jined in. She tld a stry abut a relay-race, which is a sprt with running and teamwrk. She talked abut hw her team was ding really well, but then they had a prblem and didn't win. “At first, we were angry and blamed (谴责) each ther, but later we realized that we did great and supprted each ther,” said Jane. They, as the event asks, shwed kindness and understanding.
