“I knw when t g ut,and when t stay in.”,English rck star David Bwie nce cnfidently sang in his hit single. When it cmes t cnsuming fd,the decisiveness claimed by the singer-sngwriter is hard t achieve.I disagree with the statement and argue it’s better t eat ut than t rder hme delivery.
T begin with, when setting ft in a restaurant,we’re immediately greeted nt nly by a server ready t seat us,but by a fld f physical feelings—the eyes take in the internal decratin f the place, the nse breathes in the pleasant smell f expertly plated fd and the ears pick up n cmpeting sunds f custmer chatter and attractive in-stre music.T eat ut is t experience an atmsphere unique t each restaurant.Smething as special as that simply can’t be reprduced by rdering hme delivery.Eating ut is,withut dubt, the mre exciting and thus better chice.
Eating ut becmes even mre appealing when staying hme prves t painful.Whether it is because we need a temprary fight frm ur family r that we simply want t spend sme quality time utside with lved nes, ging ut fr a meal can be a break frm the hard labur f dmestic living.
We culd take it as an pprtunity fr self-care—t treat urselves by dressing up,arriving in style at a fancy restaurant and rdering a slightly mre luxurius meal t refresh ur weary sul.Ordering hme delivery wuld nly cntribute t feelings f being penned in while eating ut is an escape fr the trapped individual.Fd delivery app users reasn it’s a truble and less cnvenient t dress up and eat ut.
Hwever,it’s wrth nting we may nt always get ur fd in the mst satisfactry cnditin when pting fr hme delivery. There’s a risk f receiving fd rders with missing items r even entirely wrng rders that can’t be sent back. What we sacrifice fr cnvenience might just wind up being incnvenient.Cnsequently,it makes mre sense t eat ut rather than risk disappintment by rdering hme delivery.

As any cat wner will tell yu,talking t yur cat is ttally nrmal. And even thugh feline(猫) friends may seem distant t these adring talks,a new study in Animal Cgnitin suggests they are really listening.
Researchers in France expsed huse cats t recrdings f their wner r a stranger saying phrases in cat- r human-directed speech.Like baby talk,cat-directed speech is typically higher pitched with shrt, repetitive phrases. The team fund that felines tended t react t their wner speaking in cat-directed speech—but nt t their wner speaking in adult tnes r t a stranger using either adult- r cat-directed speech.
Previus research had shwn similar findings in dgs,but much less is knwn when it cmes t cats.“Sme peple still cnsider cats independent—yu cannt have a real relatinship with cats,” says lead study authr Charltte Muzn,a cat behavirist at the University f Paris Nanterre.Sme peple might be embarrassed abut using special vcalizatins fr cats, she says, but this research shws “peple shuldn’t be ashamed”.
Muzn and her team recrded 16 cat wners saying such as “D yu want t play?” r “D yu want a treat?” in cat- and human-directed speech. Then they filmed each cat befre, during and after playing it a series f recrdings f its wner and ther wners’ speech. The researchers used sftware t rate the cats’ reactins frm multiple dimensins, making the result mre cnvincing.
“Althugh cats have a reputatin fr ignring their wners,a grwing bdy f research indicates that cats pay clse attentin t humans,” says Kristyn Vitale,a cat behavir scientist at Unity Cllege in Maine,wh was nt invlved in the study.“Cats can learn that specific speech has certain meanings.” But she ntes the study is t small and that future wrk is needed t expand the research t ther cat ppulatins.

    C.Multi-dimensinal evaluatins f cats’ habits.
    D.Further reference t previus studies n dgs.

    A.Lack f sample types.
    B.Absence f wners’ supprt.
    C.Absence f scientific tls.

    Ⅱ.七选五
Being late is a tendency that sme peple cannt seem t shake. Many factrs cntribute t cntinual lateness, including time perceptin, time management and persnality.
    We all knw smene wh never seems t be n time,whether it’s t a lunch date r a wrk meeting. 1
“It is likely that there’s a mechanism in the brain that causes sme peple t be late fr meetings because they underestimate the time it will take them t get there,” Hug Spiers,a prfessr at University Cllege Lndn tld Live Science. 2 Research suggests that neurns in the hippcampus(海马体) acting as “time cells” cntribute t ur perceptin and memry f events, but why exactly sme peple cntinually underestimate time is unclear.
One factr may be hw familiar we are with a space.Fr the 2017 study,Spiers asked 20 students wh had newly mved t Lndn t sketch a map f their cllege district and estimate travel times t different destinatins. The students’ space estimates expanded if they knew an area well. 3 “If yu’re very familiar with a space,yu start t discunt the truble it will take,” Spiers said.
Anther envirnmental factr may be crwdedness. In a 2022 study in the jurnal Virtual Reality, researchers asked participants t estimate the length f mre r less crwded simulated(模拟的) subway trips. They fund that crwded cmmutes felt like they tk 10% lnger than less busy rides. 4

G.That’s because peple wh run late tell themselves and thers they can be punctual.
