We g up t Sctland, we wrk alng the Thames. We’ve als taken grups t Canada, the Himalayas, places like that. But hnestly, West Wales has gt everything. We can d everything we need right here.
Cardigan Bay is pretty huge, but I find having grwn up here there’s a definite sense f belnging. There’s an awareness that we’re lucky t have these incredible sandy beaches, pebbly beaches, beautiful rivers, and hills. It’s peaceful, and it’s nt verdevelped. Of curse, there are perids when it gets busy, but then the secnd schls g back and yu pretty much get the beaches t yurself. There is a sense f cmmunity （群体） t, with a lt f gd cmmunity-based clubs, such as the Pppit Sands Surf Lifesaving Club.
I set up Adventure Beynd t make my wn wrk in the area. I lve the utdrs, and I wanted t be in Cardigan Bay, s it was perfect. I’ve tried t always keep that persnal tuch. W：Thank yu. T begin with, I’d like t share my childhd memries. Well, my parents had gardens. S I culd always pick fresh tmates, pull ut carrts and taste sweet melns.
M: Interesting! Many kids dn’t knw where fd cmes frm.
W: That’s why I started the Alice Waters Garden Prject.
M: Can yu tell us smething abut it? Fr example, hw des it wrk?
W：We design and build a 5-acre garden first. The kids, mainly aged frm 7 t 12, wrk in the garden with their hands in the dirt. Then they take what they’ve grwn t the kitchen and spend time cking and develping recipes. This is the way they learn smething abut teamwrk, creativity, and mst imprtantly, where the fd they eat every day cmes frm.

W: I’m Jane Brwn. I’m here tday t tell yu abut my career as a writer. I wrte my first nvel in 1987．I called it Sunset. Hwever, it didn’t cme ut until 1996, fur years after my first published nvel. After schl, I went t university where I studied law. Hwever, I never practiced law. I was lucky enugh t get a hliday jb n a lcal newspaper as a reprter, and I stayed there. This, f curse, gave me lts f pprtunities t imprve my writing skills. I had my first nvel published during that perid. It was called Tang. It wasn’t a great success, but it gave me useful cntacts in the publishing wrld. My secnd nvel, The Ballet Dancer, was much mre successful. It even wn a prize fr new nvelists. Since then, I’ve written three mre nvels and have als had a cuple f cllectins f shrt stries published. At present, I’m experimenting with writing a play—The List.
