    The entire present participle phrase “walking the dg at midnight” mdifies the prnun us, describing what they were ding when their parents fund them.

    Unlike with present participle phrases, the nun with a past participle phrase (v-ed) is receiving the actin, nt ding it.

    Keep in mind that Lucy is nt ding the actin f knwing; instead, she is “being knwn.” In this sentence, she is the bject f the participle while simultaneusly being the subject f the sentence.
