Wrld Oceans Day takes place n 8 June every year.
It is nw celebrated in ver 100 cuntries with hundreds f special events bradcast acrss the glbe. The day is marked in a variety f ways, including the launching f new campaigns and initiatives, and hlding special events, all wrking t advance cean cnservatin and educatin.Yung peple are an imprtant part f the prject. Wrld Oceans Day prvides them with a platfrm where they can express their cncerns and share their ideas.Each year, Wrld Oceans Day has a theme fr the campaigns and events n that day. Fr example, in 2016 and 2017 the themes were “Healthy ceans, healthy planet” and “Our ceans, ur future”,respectively.

This year fr Wrld Oceans Day, we'd like t fcus n the wnders f the sea.Did yu knw that the cean has almst 230,000 animal species in it? And these are just the species that we knw abut. And there maybe 2 millin cean animals that we dn't even knw abut yet. Of these species, 1,349 are threatened r endangered. Obviusly, t help prtect ur ceans ' wildlife and diversity, we need t get the wrd ut.That's why, this year, we are having a Sister Species prgramme.This is like a Sister City prgramme, where cities frm arund the wrld are paired up with each ther, s that they can learn mre abut the wrld.
