    The basic idea is that anyne can ask fr what they need and anyne can give it. The fficial rules are simple: “Pst anything yu'd like t give away, lend, r share amng neighbrs. Ask fr anything yu'd like t receive fr free r brrw. Keep it legal. N buying r selling, n trades, we're strictly a gift ecnmy.”
    All participants have equal standing. Gifts and requests can be large r small, items r services (thugh they must be legal). Lending and brrwing are allwed, t. Things must be given freely, with n expectatin f a gift in return. There are n rules abut hw t pst, thugh peple are encuraged t share persnal stries abut themselves, their gifts and requests, as this helps t build cmmunity.
    When asked why the Buy Nthing Prject has been met with such enthusiasm, the funders suggest it's because f the human desire t feel cnnected with thers arund us. Besides, this is truly a great way t take a stand against ver­cnsumptin, t clear ut ur hmes, t save items frm landfill and prlng their lifespan(寿命), and t keep valuable resurces in the grund.
