Last year, I decided t make a change: I signed up fr the Phne Breakup Challenge. The gal isn’t t get rid f yur phne, but t develp a mre intentinal way f using it.
The first few days were easy enugh. Befre unlcking my phne, I must answer three questins first: “What fr? Why nw? What else?” I kept the questins n my lck screen. On Day 7, I had lunch withut my phne fr cmpany. It was pleasant. I realized that, by always having my phne n hand, I was preventing myself frm sitting still with my thughts.
One f the biggest lessns f the challenge was that willpwer wasn’t enugh, but having multiple barriers t make it less appealing and accessible did help. Day 20 was the lng awaited 24-hur n-phne perid. It was much easier nt t check my phne when it was ttally ff instead f in anther rm. I nticed that a feeling f calm had spread within me.
It’s true that phnes are fun and filled with my favrite peple. There’s nthing wrng with mindless distractin. The prblem is when that becmes a habit. Nt cnstantly checking my phne helped reduce that annying habit f texting and talking at the same time r pulling ut my phne when being with smene I lve hanging ut with.
Nw, I am pleased t see I really d use my phne less. When I get hme, I leave my phne in my bag by the dr instead f bringing it frm rm t rm. I nw als enjy activities that I used t run ut f time fr, like ging fr neighbrhd walks r trying new recipes.

Althugh much wrk is still needed t cllect data and imprve the designs, scientists are hpeful that nce mastered, 3D printing culd replace traditinal cking, allwing fd t be adapted t different nutritinal(营养)needs. “We have a huge prblem with the lw nutritin f prcessed fds,” said Cper. “3D fd printing will still prduce prcessed fds, but perhaps the silver lining will be, fr sme peple, a better cntrl f nutritin based n persnalized needs.”
The team said 3D printing culd als allw chefs t create entirely new fd experiences, with flavurs and textures (质地) placed very precisely. “It is particularly practical fr the plant-based meat market, where texture and flavur need t be carefully designed t taste like real meats,” said Cper. Rejectin (拒绝) is a universal experience, but the pain f it can feel s individual. N matter hw many times yu have experienced it, being tld yu didn’t get the jb r that a date desn’t want t see yu again is always hurtful.
Histrically, the pain that cmes with rejectin has been a useful tl. Fr ur ancestrs, being kept away frm a grup wuld have been a death sentence, since it was difficult t survive alne. Being rejected has far smaller cnsequences nw than it did thusands f years ag. Still, we read it as a threat t ur health. The reasn why it hurts is the same reasn why we experience pain when we step n a sharp bject. 12 Hw did the pain f rejectin help ur ancestrs survive?
    A. By increasing the safety f living alne.
    B. By shwing the cnsequence f teamwrk.
    C. By reminding them t change their behavir.
    D. By warning them t keep away frm danger.
    13. What des the research suggest abut rejectin and physical pain?
    A. They are bth a cause f brain damage.
    B. They are bth a warning t ur survival.
    C. They recall the same suffering in the past.
    D. They prduce the same respnse in ur brain.
    14. What des the authr advise us t d abut rejectin?
    A. Analyze it reasnably.B. Dubt it bravely.
    C. Ignre it immediately.D. Take it persnally.
    15. What can be a suitable title fr the passage?
    A. Rejectin: Whse Fault Is It?B. Rejectin: A Shame r Nt?
    C. Hw Can We Avid Rejectin?D. Why Des Rejectin Hurt S Much?
