Virtual realty can imprve brain activity that may be crucial fr leaning, memry and even treating Alzheimer’s, a study n rats has fund.
After mnitring the rats’ brain activity, researchers frm the University f Califrnia Ls Angeles discvered electrical activity in a regin knwn as the hippcampus neurns (海马体神经元) differed depending n whether the rats were placed in real-wrld r VR envirnments. The new findings are significant as the hippcampus is a primary driver f learning and memry in the brain.
When rats walk arund in real life, electrical activity in the hippcampus appears t synchrnize (同步发生) at a rate f eight heartbeats per secnd. Heartbeats at this frequency are generally knwn as “theta (Ѳ) waves”, with strnger Ѳ waves seeming t imprve the brain's ability t learn and keep sensry infrmatin. When placed in a VR envirnment, the rat’s Ѳ waves became strnger.
“It turns ut that amazing things happen when the rat is in virtual reality” said Prf Mayank Mehta frm UCLA. The scientists als fund that VR envirnments culd change different electrical rhythms (节律) in different parts f the neurns, which indicates that scientists may be able t cntrl human brain rhythms.
“This is a new technlgy that has great ptential,” Mehta said. The study als indicates why VR may stimulate these unique brain waves. A big part f it, Mehta puts, may be dwn t the very different set f stimuli presented in VR.
Imagine that yu’re appraching a drway in real life. Yur eyes see the dr getting larger. But hw d yu knw that yu’re mving frward and the dr isn’t cming t yu? The answer is that yur brain uses infrmatin such as the acceleratin f yur head thrugh space r the shift f weight frm ne ft t the ther-infrmatin that may nt be present during a VR experience.
4. Accrding t the passage, why are the new findings imprtant?
A. VR’s cntributins t learning have finally been identified.
B. VR can affect electrical activity in the hippcampus neurns.
C. VR prduces the same effects n brains as real envirnments.
D. VR is likely t becme anther driver fr learning and memry.
5. What can we learn abut Ѳ waves?
A. They dn’t respnd t different brain rhythms.
B. They remain stable in different envirnments.
C. They affect hw human perceive knwledge.
D. They have lite t d with the rate f heartbeats.
6. What des the underlined wrd “it” in Paragraph 5 refer t?
A. The ptential f the new technlgy.
B The cntrl f human brain rhythms.
C. The change in different parts f neurns.
D The stimulatin f the unique brain waves.
7. Hw des the authr intrduce VR’s different set f stimuli?
A. By cnducting further tests n rats.B. By cmparing different envirnments.
C. By prviding a detailed analysisD. By explaining the thery f VR.

In the near future, instead f ging t yur wardrbe (衣柜) t chse smething t thrw n fr yur next vide call, yu might turn t yur virtual wardrbe t pick ut a 3D digital dress t wear. At least, that's what a number f peple in the fashin and tech space are relying n as mre businesses lk t the prmise f digital fashin. Mrever, thse virtual clthes wn't just be fr yur vide calls, but culd eventually be wrn all ver the virtual wrld, and eventually, perhaps, viewed n yur bdy in the real wrld thrugh the Augmented Reality (AR) glasses.
“There are mre and mre secnd wrlds' where yu can express yurself. But there is prbably an underestimatin f the value being attached t individuals wh want t express themselves in a virtual wrld with a virtual prduct, thrugh a virtual image,”a marketing fficer Rbert said. As the field develps, there are tw ways f using digital clthes—wearing them yurself thrugh AR and prviding digital clthes fr yur virtual bdy.
But why shuld we replace ur physical clthes? Supprters say there's unlimited creative expressin thrugh digital clthes, which nw lk increasingly mre elegant thanks t develpments in 3D and AR technlgy. “Clthing represents an expressin f a persnality. It always exists in the physical wrld, and it will exist in the virtual wrld,” said Simn Whitehuse, a designer.
He explained, “Frm the brand side, it's incredibly prfitable t sell clthes withut prducing physical clthes. It's reinventing an entire supply chain. There's n water usage, there's very limited CO2 emissin. There are n samples being sent ut r returned. There are n shw rms, and there's n physical prttype (实物模型).”
8. What can yu prbably d in the near future accrding t paragraph 1?

D. One's expressin nly can be seen in the physical wrld.
10. What is Simn's attitude t digital clthing?
A. Apprving.B. Dubtful.
C. Unclear.D. Grateful.
11. What is the text mainly abut?

Learning is s cmplex that there are many different psychlgical theries t explain hw peple learn. A psychlgist named Albert Bandura suggested a scial learning thery which shws that bservatin, imitatin, and mdeling play a primary rle in this prcess.
In Albert Bandura’s pinin, peple can learn thrugh bservatin. Observatinal learning desn’t even necessarily require watching anther persn jin in an activity. We can als learn by reading, hearing, r watching the actins f characters in bks and films. Hwever, just bserving smene else’s actins isn’t always enugh fr learning. Yur wn mental state als plays an imprtant rle in determining whether a behavir is learned r nt. In additin, thugh in many cases, learning can be seen immediately when the new behavir is displayed, yet smetimes we can learn things even thugh that learning might nt be immediately bvius, which means peple can learn new infrmatin withut shwing new behavirs.
Nt at bserved behavirs are effectively learned. Certain requirements need t be related t the bservatinal learning prcess. Fr example, yu need t be paying attentin. Als yur memry is an imprtant part f bservatinal learning as yu need t pull up infrmatin later and act n it during the prcess. Once yu’ve paid attentin t the mdel and kept the infrmatin, it’s time t actually perfrm the behavir yu bserved. Further practice f the learned behavir leads t imprvement. Finally, yu have t be mtivated t imitate the behavir that has been mdeled.
Scial learning thery have many real-wrld applicatins. Fr example, researchers emply it t lk int and understand ways that psitive rle mdels can be used t encurage desirable behavirs. Besides, it’s als applied in the field f educatin, and tday, bth teachers and parents recgnize hw imprtant it is t mdel apprpriate behavirs.
12. What can we infer abut bservatinal learning frm paragraph 2?
A. Its effects n a persn tend t be very bvius.
B. Its effectiveness is determined by the mental stale.
C. It desn’t necessarily lead t a change in behavir.
D. Its mst useful means might be watching and learning.
13. What des the underlined wrd “it” in paragraph 3 refer t?
A. Mdel.B. Infrmatin.
C. Memry.D. Observatinal learning.
14. What might NOT be required when perfrming bservatinal learning?
A. Trying t be fcused.B. Trying t be imaginative.
C. Lking fr a mtivatr.D. Editing and string infrmatin.
15. What can we learn abut the scial learning thery accrding t the text?
A. It is f practical use.B. It remains t be imprved.
C. It was effective at first.D. It is easily and widely applied.

Much f the wrk in tday’s wrld is accmplished(完成) in teams. Mst peple believe the best way t build a great team is t gather a grup f the mst talented individuals. ___16___Cmpanies spend millins hiring tp business peple. Is their mney well spent?
___17___They fcused n ftball, basketball and baseball. The results are mixed. Fr ftball and basketball, adding talented players t a team prves a gd methd, but nly up t the pint where 70% f the players are tp talent; abve that level, the team’s perfrmance begins t decline. Interestingly, this trend isn’t evident in baseball, where additinal individual talent keeps imprving the team’s perfrmance.
T explain this phenmenn, the researchers explred the degree t which a gd perfrmance by a team requires its members t crdinate(协调) their actins. ___18___In baseball, the perfrmance f individual players is less dependent n teammates. They cnclude that when task interdependence is high, team perfrmance will suffer when there is t much talent, while individual talent will have psitive effects n team perfrmance when task interdependence is lwer. If a basketball star is, fr example, trying t gain a high persnal pint ttal, he may take a sht himself when it wuld be better t pass the ball t a teammate, affecting the team’s perfrmance. Yung children learning t play team sprts are ften tld, “There is n I in TEAM.” ___19___
Anther pssibility is that when there is a lt f talent n a team, sme players may make less effrt. Just as in a game f tug-f-war(拔河比赛), whenever a persn is added, everyne else pulls the rpe with less frce.
___20___ An A-team may require a balance--nt just A players, but a few generus B players as well.
A. It’s nt a simple matter t determine the nature f talent.
B. Sprts team wners spend millins f dllars attracting tp talent.
C. The grup interactin and its effect drew the researchers’ attentin.
D. Stars apparently d nt fllw this basic principle f sprtsmanship.
E. Several recent studies examined the rle f talent in the sprts wrld.
F. Building up a dream team is mre cmplex than simply hiring the best talent.
G. This task interdependence distinguishes baseball frm ftball and basketball.
