    The cean absrbs nearly a third f carbn dixide emissins in the air, and 1.3 millin gallns f crude il are spilled int ceans every year, accrding t the Stckhlm Internatinal Water Institute. Bth issues cntinue t affect the bidiversity f the cean and human health. In her research, Park develped a methd t remve these cntaminants.
    Speaking n winning the prize, Park said it was a prject she did in her high schl. “I never realized that I wuld get t this pint.”
