1. Introduce some background information about Tu Youyou.
2. Ask students to brainstorm what they know about Tu Youyou.

3. Read the article and find out what kind of person Tu Youyou is.

活动二：

Play the tape. Ask the students to listen to it and read after that.

Find out the main idea of the passage and read carefully to figure the main idea of each paragraph..

Read the article after the tape.

Divide students into groups and discuss what kind of person Tu Youyou is.

Ask students to take part in a group activity and discuss what their role models are.

1. Ask students to read the words, phrases and sentences in class.

2. Instruct students to collect other words, phrases and sentences from the passage about introducing their role models in groups and present their work in class.

3. Write "Yes" or "No" to the following questions

Can you tell others about Deng Jiaxian and Gao Fenglin?

Can you talk about the qualities or stories of your role model?

Can you use the adverbial clauses properly?

Can you use weak forms when reading sentences?

Ask students to collect more information or pictures from the passage about introducing their role models.
