Organization

1. Greet the students and divide them into four groups.

New Lesson

Pre-reading

1．The teacher shows a video clip or pictures about New Year’s Eve celebrations around the world. The students find out what people do on this day.

通过视频或图片大致了解世界各地迎公历新年的不同庆祝方式，熟悉相关词汇，激活与阅读材料主题相关的背景知识。

2．The students think about what they usually do on this day and why this day is special.

基于视频或图片的解读，提前对阅读文章的话题进行思考。

While-reading

1．The students listen and skim the text, answer the first question “What’s the text about?” and summarize the main idea for each paragraph.

通过听、读文章，掌握文章主旨，熟悉词汇发音和文章内容，利用略读的阅读技巧，快速掌握段落大意。

2．The students scan the text and answer the second question “What celebration activities are mentioned in the text?”

利用扫读的阅读技巧，定位关键细节。

3．The teacher asks “What do you think of New Year’s Eve?” and students work in pairs to discuss and present their ideas.

4．The students read the text together after the teacher and underline the key words and expressions.

Post-reading

1．Based on the understanding of the text, The students work in pairs and discuss about the New Year’s Resolutions in Activity Two. The teacher highlights the simple future tense here.

2．The teacher holds a sharing session about students’ New Year’s resolutions and reasons for them. Some students are encouraged to make a presentation.

基于对阅读材料的理解和消化，进行笔头输出练习，引导学生对新年决心和人生的思考，关注一般将来时在此处的用法。

Practice

1．The students work in groups to discuss the two questions before reading the passage in Around the world. The teacher invites several students to share their ideas.

2．The students scan and skim the passage about New Year celebrations in different countries. With the help of The teacher, the students guess the meaning of difficult words from the context and think why New Year is celebrated in different ways.

小组讨论读前问题，分享看法，为接下来阅读更多的有关其他国家传统新年的庆祝活动，做好准备。
