    Teaching objectives:

    1. Can tell the names of toilets in different countries with the help of pictures and signs.
    2. Can understand the Cartoon time as a whole by reading and acting.
    3. Can read the maps effectively and tell the suitable route to the destination.
    4. Can be aware of the differences between BE and AE.

    Key points and difficulties

    Teaching procedure:

    1. Free talk

    T: Good morning boys & girls. Im from Mafujie P.S My name is Shi Jing. So you can call me ...

    S: Miss Shi.

    T: Right, good morning boys and girls.

    S: Good morning, Miss Shi.

    T: Nice, now you know my name, my school and my job, right?

    S: You are a teacher.

    T: Yes, I teach English. If you want to know more, what can you ask?

    S: How old are you? / What color do you like? / ...

    T: (answer and ask them back)Can you ask me questions about this unit?

    S: Where do you live? / How do you come / go / get to school?

    T: ... I come to your school by Didi, do you know why?

    S: ...

    T: Because I dont know the way. So I come by Didi. What else can I do?

    S: Ask the way. / Read a map.

    根据学生反馈,简笔画:手机和地图。

    【设计意图:教师从free talk与学生自由交谈,由名字、职业谈到来到学校的方式,并鼓励学生提出更多问题了解老师,培养学生的问题意识。一方面拉近了学生与老师的距离,消除了学生紧张感,另一方面更重要的是自然过渡并揭示了课题:Asking the way.

    1. Play a game

    T: First, lets play a map game. There are some places on the map, where do you want to go? Think and shh... Whod like to tell me quietly?

    S: ...

    T: Follow my directions and tell me where does he / she want to go? (*2)

    Play the game in 4.

    T: Now listen and tell where do I want to go?

    S: ....

    T: What is the WC?

    In the UK, its toilet”, in the US, they call it “restroom”.

    Show the Culture time and read together.

    T: Whats more? (PPT出示5A文化板块中学过的英美不同表述: the ground floor / the first floor)

    T: Do you know anything like that?

    S: ...

    不管学生给出什么方面的英美不同表述都给予肯定,但板书和问路有关的内容,比如:

    In the UK: lift, taxi, underground ...

    In the US: elevator, cab, subway...

    PPT介绍更多的英美不同表达。

    You can see the culture can help us ask or find a way better. And don’t forget reading a map is also a good idea.

    【设计意图:从游戏入手,自然引入文化板块的学习,在这一块不仅学习了书本上英国和美国对于厕所的表达不同,同时复习了和拓展了英美文化中对于不同词语的表达。学习英语不仅要让学生学习到语言,也要有意识的培养学生的文化意识,了解英文国家不同的文化。

     

    4 Cartoon time
    T: Look, Bobby & Tina are reading a map (PPT出图1)
    Where do they want to go and how do they go there?
    Discuss in 2 and try to guess out the answers.
    They want to go to _____________ by ______________.
    T: OK. Let’s watch and find out.
    Yes, they go to the (City) Cinema by bus / taxi / metro?
    T: Why cant they go by bus?
    S: Because the bus is full.

    Teach: full

    T: What does it mean?

    S: ...

    T: Is our room full?

    S: No.
    T: But the bus is full, and they want to see the new film.
     How do they feel?
    Should we read  …. / or …? Which way is better?
    Can you read like Bobby? *2

    T: Because they cant get on the bus. So they get ... the taxi.

    S: Get in ...
    Pay afternoon is the … Do you know why? Here is a chant for you.
    (get in the taxi, get in the car; get on the bus, get on the metro)
    T: After they get in the taxi, what do they see?

    S: There are so many cars on the street.

    T: How do they feel and what will they say? Discuss in pairs and practise.

    T: If you don’t want to be late. What can you do?

    5. 总结并生成板书:

    T: Look, asking the way, reading a map and using the apps can help us find the way.

    T: How to answer the way? (补充get on / off ... station, its near ... its next to ...

    S: ...

    T: You did a good job asking and answering the way. We can also use these to talk about: Where do you live? And how do you get to your school? Heres a map of mine. Whod like to talk with me?

    S: Where do you live?

    T: I live in Shenjiaxiang Street. Its near 454 hospital.

    S: How do you get to your school?

    T: I come to school on foot. First, I ... Then ... And ... The school is on my right.

      Thanks for your help. Now its time to take out your map and share your ways to school. Can

    you ask and answer like that in pairs?

    【设计意图:鼓励学生自己总结如何问路及回答,最后在真实的情境中运用英语去询问和表达如何从家到学校的路线,真正体现英语学习的根本目的在于对语言的运用。
