However, sometimes when museums don't allow people to take photos, it can be difficult to enjoy remembering the times you had together. One day helps solve the problem, and that is Museum Selfie Day (博物馆自拍日).

Museum Selfie Day mixes the ancient history of the world with the funny modern practice of taking selfies.The day was created in 2015 by Mar Dixon, a museum lover. She thought of the idea as a way to help people keep their memories in museums.

Museum Selfie Day is celebrated around 20th, January each year. This day allows people to take photos next to famous works in museums and enjoy their time. While it encourages people to have fun, it also shows them the importance of enjoying paintings,photography,sculptures (雕塑)and so on. Now, many museums around the world join in the activity.

We are very pleased with the photo competition. Compared with other years, we received many more photos. Even though all of the photos are excellent, we can't give prizes to everyone. There are four prizes, so read on to find out who the winners are.

The person who won the prize of the "Most Beautiful Nature" photography is fifteen-year-old Li Wei. Li took photos of the mountains in Xiangshan Park. The park isn't far from his home, about 500 metres, and he knows it well.

The photo we like best in the "Historic China" group was taken by Zhao Min. Zhao is only 12 years old. Her photo is of Tian'anmen Square. It's 880 metres from the north to the south and 500 metres wide. Her photo shows the size and the beauty of the square perfectly.

The best photo in "Music" category (类别) was taken by He Zhong who is fourteen years old. His photo of the band Crazy Tank shows the singers and the band playing at the concert in our school's cultural festival. He Zhong manages to show the movement, the sounds of this great new band, and the fun which their fans were having.

A collection of photos called the "Many Faces of Our City" which features (以……为特色) Beijing won the prize for the "Most Unusual" category. Three pupils at the same school worked on this entry. It includes photos of different parts of the city, old and new. It successfully shows the rich culture which makes Beijing so famous.

Congratulations to our winners and thank everyone who entered the competition. We are very lucky that the famous photographer John William is in China to talk about his new book. He has agreed to present the prizes at the prize-giving ceremony (典礼) at the end of this month.

In 1826, a Frenchman named Niépce needed pictures for his business. But he was not a good artist. So he invented a very simple camera. He put it in a window of his house and took a picture of his garden. That was the first photo.

The next important date in the history of photography was in 1837. That year, Daguerre, another Frenchman, took a picture of his reading room. He used a new kind of camera in a different way. In his picture you could see everything very clearly, even the smallest thing. This kind of photo was called a daguerreotype. Soon, other people began to use the way. Travelers brought back wonderful photos from all over the world. People took pictures of famous buildings, cities and mountains.

In about 1840, photography was developed. Then photographers could take pictures of people and moving things. That was not simple. The photographers had to carry a lot of film and other machines. But this did not stop them. For example, some in the United States worked so hard. Mathew Brady was a famous American photographer. He took many pictures of great people. The pictures were unusual because they were very lifelike (栩栩如生的).

Photography had also become one kind of art by the end of the 19th century. Some photos were not just pictures of the real world. They showed different feelings, like other kinds of art.

Mona Lisa, the famous picture painted by Leonardo da Vinci, is getting worse by the year. Visitors have noticed the changes but repairing the world's most famous painting is not easy.
