    教学目标

    Knowledge objectives

    ①Key vocabulary:

    cap, chopstick, toy, video game, gift, surprise, immediately, difference, accept, tradition, example, for example, must, month, serious, taste

    ②Key sentences:

    What a surprise!

    But back in the US, we open a gift immediately.

    In China, you accept a gift with both hands.

    For example, in my home town, people say you mustn't do any cleaning on the first day of the Spring Festival.

    Ability objectives

    ①Be able to understand the conversation about social customs and living habits;

    ②Be able to use vocabulary and phrases correctly in this unit.

    Emotional objectives

    ①Let students actively participate in communicative activities and speak English boldly.

    ②Let students love Chinese culture and respect others’ culture.

    教学重点

    Students can use modal verbs in different situations correctly.

    教学难点

    Students can use modal verbs to describe traditions during festivals.

    教学准备

    Teacher preparation: multimedia courseware, textbook recordings

    Student Preparation: Pre-class preparation

    教学过程

    1.Lead-in

    ①Teacher asks students to look at the pictures and answer the questions.

    Ask some students to say their answers.

    2.Presentation

    Task 1 New words

    ①Teacher asks students to see the pictures and say the words.

    ②Organize the students to read the new words together.

    Task 2 Listening

    ①Ask students to listen and number the words and expressions as they hear them.

    ②Ask students to match the words and expressions in Activity 1 with the pictures.

    ③Play the tape and ask students to skim the conversation.

    ④Organize the students to read the conversation with the recording.

    ⑤Ask students to check (√) what they usually do in China.

    ⑥Ask students to complete the passage with the words in the box.

    ⑦Teacher checks the answers with the class.

    Task 3 Notes

    ①Organize students to come to the blackboard and show out some difficult language points that they found.

    ②Teacher explains the language points.

    Task 4 Sentences

    ①Teacher shows the important sentences.

    ②Ask the students to read through the sentences.

    Task 5 Speaking

    ①Ask students to think about what they must and mustnt/ cant do in the situations and write notes.

    ②Ask some students to say what they must and mustnt/ cant do.

    Let some students act out their dialogues.

    3.Practice

    Ask students to finish the practice.

    This course guides students to acquire information through listening and develop their listening skills. In this class, multimedia means are used to assist teaching. This course allows students to combine their existing knowledge and experience with the basic language knowledge they have learned to learn from each other.
