复习动词-ing形式一、动词-ing形式的基本情况动词-ing形式的时态和语态:
Reading alud is a gd way t learn a language.朗读是学习语言的一种好方法。Having studied his lessns very hard,he passed the exam.努力学习了功课,他通过了考试。The building being built nw will be finished next mnth.现在正在建设的建筑物下个月将完工。
二、动词-ing形式做主语1.动词-ing形式做主语时,往往表示经常性、习惯性的动作,通常置于句首。Saying is ne thing,and ding is anther.说是一回事,而做是另一回事。Having a walk every day helps t make ne keep healthy.每天散步有助于一个人保持健康。
温馨提示 动词-ing形式做主语时,谓语动词用单数。

对于老人来说爬山确实困难。
2.形式主语it代替动词-ing形式做主语。此类句式常见的有:It’s a waste f time ding sth 做某事是浪费时间。It’s useless/wrthwhile ding sth 做某事没用/是值得的。It’s n gd/use/fun ding sth 做某事没好处/没用/没意思。It is a waste f time persuading such a persn t jin us.劝说这种人加入我们是浪费时间。
3.动词-ing形式和t d做主语时的区别。动词-ing形式和t d都可以做主语。动词-ing形式做主语表示比较抽象的一般行为,t d做主语往往表示具体的或一次性的动作。Playing with fire is dangerus.玩火危险。Singing is my hbby,and t sing at my friend’s birthday party is my dream.唱歌是我的爱好,在朋友的生日宴会上唱歌是我的梦想。
三、动词-ing形式做宾语1.做动词的宾语。接动词-ing形式做宾语的常用动词(短语)有:avid,miss,delay/put ff,advise,finish,practise,enjy, imagine,can’t help,admit,deny,escape,risk,excuse,can’t stand, keep, mind等。He admitted referring t his ntes in the exam.他承认在考试中查阅了笔记。She can’t stand being lked dwn upn in public.她忍受不了在公众场合被人看不起。
2.做介词的宾语。在下面的短语中,常用动词-ing形式做介词的宾语: be gd at擅长;dream f梦想;care abut在乎;be cncerned abut关心;be interested in对……感兴趣;feel like想要;insist n坚持;think f认为;aim at瞄准;set abut开始做;be used t习惯于;get dwn t开始做;lead t导致;devte neself t 献身于……;lk frward t期待;stick t 坚持;pay attentin t注意;give up放弃等。

3.在以下结构中,动词-ing形式做介词的宾语,介词常省略。spend...(in) ding 花费……做某事have difficulty/truble (in) ding... 做……有困难/麻烦stp/prevent...(frm) ding 阻止……做某事waste time (in) ding 浪费时间做某事be busy (in) ding 忙于做某事
have a gd/hard time (in) ding 高兴做某事/费了很大劲做某事There is n pint (in) ding 做某事毫无意义He is always busy wrking every day,which has made him have little time t play with his child.他每天总是忙于工作,这使他很少有时间和孩子一起玩。There is n pint giving him such a gd chance.给他提供这样一个好机会没有意义。
4.动词-ing形式做主语、宾语时的几个特殊情况(1)动词-ing形式的复合结构
His/Tm’s being late made the teacher very angry.他的/汤姆的迟到使老师很生气。
Wuld yu mind my/me clsing the windw?你介意我关上窗户吗?Wuld yu mind Mary’s/Mary clsing the windw?你介意玛丽关上窗户吗?温馨提示 动词-ing复合结构的否定形式为:形容词性物主代词/代词(宾格)/名词/名词所有格+nt+动词-ing形式

(2)某些动词及动词短语后面既可以用不定式也可以用动词-ing形式做宾语。①动词begin,start,cntinue等词后既可跟不定式,又可跟动词-ing形式做宾语,意义基本相同。They cntinued discussing/t discuss the plan after having a rest.休息了一会儿后,他们继续讨论这项计划。
②动词lve,like,hate等后可跟动词-ing和不定式做宾语,但接动词-ing表示经常性的情况,接不定式表示具体的动作。I lve walking with my friend n a sunny day.(习惯)我喜欢和朋友在一个阳光明媚的日子里散步。It is a pleasant day tday,s I lve t have a walk with my friend.(具体)今天是个令人愉快的日子,所以我想和朋友一起散散步。
③一些动词后既可跟动词-ing做宾语,又可跟不定式做宾语,但意义有很大差别。He frgt turning the light ff.他忘记已经关了灯。The light in the ffice is still n.He frgt t turn it ff.办公室的灯还亮着。他忘记关了。

(3)用it做形式宾语,真正的宾语是动词-ing形式,其结构如下:

(4)在动词need,require,want,deserve后,用动词-ing形式表示被动意义,即need/require/want/deserve ding=need/require/want/deserve t be dne。These clthes need washing.=These clthes need t be washed.这些衣服需要洗。The huse requires repairing.=The huse requires t be repaired.这座房子需要维修。
(5)在(be) wrth后面只能用动词-ing形式来表示被动意义。The film is wrth seeing a secnd time.这部电影值得再看一次。
四、动词-ing形式做表语1.表抽象性、经常性、一般性的动作,可与主语互换位置。One f his bad habits is watching TV while having dinner.=Watching TV while having dinner is ne f his bad habits.他的坏习惯之一是吃饭时看电视。温馨提示 不定式(t d)亦可做表语,但不定式侧重某次具体的动作。
2.使人产生某种情绪或感觉的使役动词,如disappint,amuse,astnish,interest,frighten,puzzle,surprise,mve,excite,bre,cnfuse等,其动词-ing形式表示“令人……的”,而其动词-ed形式表示“(人)感到……的”。I dn’t think her jke is amusing at all.我认为她的笑话一点儿也不好笑。
I am nt amused at her jke at all.我对她的笑话一点儿也不感兴趣。The film we saw last night was very mving.我们昨晚看的那部电影很感人。We were mved at the film we saw last night.我们被昨晚看的电影感动了。
五、动词-ing做定语1.说明被修饰词的性质、特征或用途。He may be in the reading rm.他可能在阅览室里。Ladies and gentlemen,please g and wait in the meeting rm.女士们、先生们,请去会议室等待。
2.与被修饰词为主动关系且表示正在进行的动作。There were abut 200 children studying in the art schl.有大约两百个孩子在这所艺术学校学习。Wh is the wman talking t ur English teacher?正在和我们英语老师谈话的那位妇女是谁?
3.有些动词-ing形式已经转化成形容词,常做定语用来修饰物,表示“令人……”。常用的此类词有:exciting,amusing,amazing,astnishing, shcking,puzzling,cnfusing,disappinting,discuraging,pleasing,striking,bring,tiring,tuching,mving,interesting,satisfying,terrifying,frightening等。
That must have been a terrifying experience.那准是一段可怕的经历。The experiment was an amazing success.那项实验是一次惊人的成功。温馨提示 单个的动词-ing形式做定语时,放在被修饰词前;动词-ing形式短语做定语时,则放在被修饰词后。
六、动词-ing形式做宾语补足语动词-ing形式做宾语补足语时,表示正在进行的动作或经常存在的状态。动词-ing形式常做以下动词的宾语补足语。1.动词-ing位于感官动词后:feel,smell,listen t,hear,watch,see, ntice,bserve等。I felt smene patting me n the shulder.我感觉有人在拍我的肩膀。When he passed the swimming pl,he saw smene swimming in it.当他经过游泳池时,他看见有人在里面游泳。
温馨提示 动词-ing形式与动词不定式在感官动词后的意义:在see,hear,watch等感官动词后,用动词-ing形式做宾语补足语表示动作正在进行;用省略t的不定式做宾语补足语表示动作从开始到结束的全过程。

2.动词-ing形式位于使役动词:have,keep,get,leave,make等之后。She culdn’t have him getting away with telling lies.她不能容忍他撒了谎而不受惩罚。Please dn’t keep the little by staying alne.不要让这个小男孩独自待着。
3.用于with复合结构中。I culdn’t d my hmewrk with the nise ging n.由于噪声不断,我没法做家庭作业。With s many peple lking at her,she feels nervus.这么多人看着她,她感到很紧张。
七、动词-ing形式做状语1.做时间状语Hearing the news,he culdn’t help laughing.→When he heard the news,he culdn’t help laughing.一听到那个消息,他禁不住大笑起来。
2.做原因状语Nt knwing her address,I had better telephne her t cme ver.→As I dn’t knw her address,I had better telephne her t cme ver.由于不知道她的地址,我最好打电话让她过来。
3.做条件状语Wrking hard,yu’ll surely succeed.→If yu wrk hard,yu’ll surely succeed.如果努力工作,你就一定会成功。4.做结果状语The child slipped and fell,hitting his head against the dr.→The child slipped and fell,and hit his head against the dr.那个男孩滑了一跤,头撞到了门上。
温馨提示 动词-ing形式做结果状语,是随着谓语动词的发生而产生的自然结果,而不定式做结果状语时常表示出乎意料的结果,有时前面可以加nly。

6.做伴随状语Mrris lay n the grass,staring at the sky fr a lng time.→Mrris lay n the grass and stared at the sky fr a lng time.莫里斯躺在草地上,长时间地望着天空。The by sat in frnt f the farmhuse,cutting the branches.→The by sat in frnt f the farmhuse,and cut the branches.那个男孩坐在农舍前砍树枝。
7.做方式状语He came running back t tell me the news.他跑回来告诉我这个消息。
温馨提示 动词-ing形式做评注性状语
有些动词-ing形式在句中没有逻辑主语,它们往往作为句子的评注性状语来修饰整个句子,表明说话者的态度、观点等。如:generally speaking“一般来说”,judging by/frm...“从……判断”,taking everything int cnsideratin“从全局考虑”。
