One night, during the first of my eldest son’s three basketball games, we went to cheer for him. We happened to be sitting next to a lady with a young son. In my eye, the little boy looked younger than my youngest son. At one point in the game, the little boy looked over to my son, and said. “Can I be your friend?” My husband leaned over to tell me what he heard. I spent the next 20 minutes taking pictures of my eldest son on the court (球场), and my youngest son, with his new friend, playing games two seats down from where I sat. It was a heartwarming scene and reminded me how easy it can be to make new friends.
A few hours earlier, we went to a cafe for an afternoon treat. There were no free tables for four, so we took a table for two, and crowded into the small space, each taking a bite of everyone else’s order. We were loud and full of noise. Some college students with open laptops (笔记本电脑) were drinking coffee and working hard to finish midterm papers. What we did made them angry. One such young lady came over to our table and said, “I have more room at my table. I am happy to exchange with you so you can sit more comfortably.” It was a simpleact but it showed a selfless (无私的) heart. We refused her offer with politeness, but her kindness stuck with me for hours after it happened.
These are just two examples of everyday kindnesses I often take for granted. I could name so many more. Often overlooked or underrated, we sometimes even pay no attention to these small acts of friendliness and human care, but in fact they are the things to make the world beautiful.

Do you often have questions in daily life? What do you probably want to do if you have a question? I’m sure you may want to get a quick answer on the Internet. But how can you make it? Now some technology companies are working to make this come true by developing chatbots. They are computer programs that can communicate with people by phone, on messaging apps or on websites.
Chatbots can look up information, answer often asked questions and collect information from users. They can also be used for online shopping to help people choose things that they really need and then decide what to buy.
There are two kinds of chatbots: closed and open. A closed chatbot may or may not use AI (人工智能) to understand messages from users. An open chatbot uses AI both to know what people want and to create a reply. Open chatbots are able to learn from their conversations and then improve their ability to communicate over time. This means that open chatbots can answer a wider range (范围) of questions compared with closed chatbots.
Chatbots have many important advantages. One of them is that chatbots are available all the time, even at midnight. What’s more, one chatbot can serve a large number of users at once. This means that people can get answers quickly instead of waiting for the reply of a human agent.
However, chatbots can’t take the place of human agents. Someone has to program the chatbots at the beginning and train them. Sometimes, open chatbots can’t give answers to certain questions. Besides, quite a few people like speaking to a human better, not a chatbot.

七、阅读还原5选5
Have you ever felt nervous about something but wanted to try it anyway? 32 However, being brave and facing your fears will help you enjoy new experiences.
Feeling scared or nervous about something strange is natural and normal, because these things are usually different from what you have been used to. Your brain is giving orders to other parts of your body to protect you from danger. 33 Fears sometimes can be helpful. It’s reported that people who watch scary movies are healthier than those who hardly do. But it doesn’t mean the more fearful you feel, the better it will be. 34 This is when courage can help.
Courage means different things to different people. Being brave can be about sharing worries and asking for help, trying something new or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone(舒适区). 35 Whether you’re scared of a spider or worried about public speaking, being brave means finding ways to deal with something you find difficult.
How can you be braver? 36 For example, you can ask your parents or grandparents how they overcome fears. You can even share your worries, ask for help and try not to fight alone. And just taking a deep breath and giving something a go can make you feel brave too.
