Anna Brown was an artist who believed that it was important to help others. When she heard of a summer camp for children with serious illnesses, she came up with an idea. It cost money for these kids to go to camp, so Anna decided to see what she could do to help. It was impossible for her to donate (捐赠) a lot of money, so she had to think of another way.
She wanted to take advantage of her love of art. So she started making and selling beautiful cards to raise money for these kids. Because these cards were all handmade, it would take her a long time to make a lot of them. So Anna had another idea. She started inviting friends to her house to help her make the cards. At first her friends were uncertain about it. Many said that they were not artistic and didn’t know how to make cards. But once they saw the beautiful materials that she had in her workroom, her friends felt more comfortable doing things such as drawing and cutting in order to make a new card.
But the materials were expensive. To make cards without spending too much money, Anna asked for and got donations of paper, glue, scissors, and other things from nearby stores. Nowadays, some people prefer to dry their wet hands with paper while others are used to drying their hands with hand dryers. It seems much cleaner by using the hand dryers without directly contact with your skin, but actually it turns out that using a hand dryer can actually “dirty” your hands.
A medical doctor advised us not to use those hot hand dryers in public bathrooms. Recently, a video shows how those convenient hand dryers actually spread the bacteria (病毒). “I hate to bring the bad news, but those hand dryers in public are really disgusting,” said the doctor, “There have been actual studies done on those hand dryers to see if they spread bacteria. Actually, they tend to spread more bacteria than by paper.”
According to the Harvard Health blog, a study by a University in 2018 found that exposure (接触) to hot hand dryers made more bacteria within several seconds. It is proved by Harvard Health that every time a toilet is flushed (冲水), the bacteria may spread through the air over an area as large as 6 square meters. When the bacteria come up to a hot hand dryer, they greatly increase.
So what is the best way to clean the hands? Studies have shown the answer, that is drying with paper. Moreover, many people simply wash their hands under the running water, and do not use hand soap. In fact, only by washing your hands each time with hand soap can it be effective (有效的).

Every now and then you may see news of satellites sent into space. On Feb 21, for example, US company Space X took 46 satellites into orbit (轨道). On Feb 27, China sent 22 satellites into space. Why do we need so many satellites? What do they do out there?
At present, there are more than 3, 000 active satellites moving around the Earth, according to Statista, a German company working on market data. Satellites do all kinds of work, from sending TV signals to giving you directions on the road to helping scientists do research.
For example, the 22 satellites China just sent up are part of the Beidou Navigation Satellite System (北斗卫星导航系统). Shared bikes that use BeiDou chips (芯片) can have more accurate (精准的) positioning, so people will find them easily. Drones (无人机) can also use BeiDou to fly.
Before satellites, TV signals didn’t go very far. Mountains or tall buildings would stop them. Phone calls to faraway places were also a problem. Setting up telephone wires (线) over long distances is difficult. With satellites, TV signals and phone calls can be sent directly to a satellite and back down to different places on Earth. SpaceX’s Starlink project is trying to go further. It plans to use satellites to provide Internet in the future.
Satellites can also provide information about clouds, oceans, land and ice. They help scientists predict changes in weather and climate. By watching and checking wildfires and volcanoes, satellites help emergency workers deal with natural disasters. Farmers can use satellite pictures to decide the best time to water their fields.
Some satellites fly near other planets. They may look for water on Mars or take close-up pictures of Saturn’s rings (土星环). In 2020, video website Bilibili sent a satellite into space. Its job is to look at other planets and share the pictures and videos with Bilibili’s users.
68.What does the writer want to express in Paragraph 1?

八、阅读还原7选5
China is a treasure chest (宝库) of culture and history. 73 Of course, they know the Great Wall, giant pandas and kung fu, but these are some things on the surface.
74 Literature (文学) is a window into another world and a mirror of society and culture. I first entered the Chinese literary world through a translation of Lu Xun’s A Madman’s Diary, which I read for my high-school English class in Australia. Completed in 1918, A Madman’s Diary is about a “madman” who worries that everyone around him wants to eat him. As I read it, I kept wondering, “Is he really mad?” 75 Back then, the ruling class (统治阶级) in China treated people badly every day. Lu Xun was very unhappy about this and wanted to express his feelings.
76 I hope my Chinese will be good enough one day that I can read the original Chinese version (版本).
This section of TEENS is a collection of stories of people from around the world sharing their encounters (邂逅) with Chinese literature. They explain how reading has helped them gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, society and history. 77
How do you think China can better share its stories with the world? What can you do to help promote (推广) them? What other countries’ literature are you interested in and why? Write to us and let us know!
A.So many people like to visit China.
B.We can go deeper by reading literature.
C.Reading Chinese literature is so much fun.
D.But many people from other countries know little about China.
E.They also tell us how their countries think of Chinese literature.
F.After reading it, I realized I had so much more to learn about China.
G.Later I found out that Lu Xun compared the madman to the madness of society.

My Understanding of Winter Olympics Spirits
On April 8th, 2022, President Xi Jinping came up with the idea of Winter Olympics Spirits. In my understanding, I think the Winter Olympics Spirits tell us not to be afraid in the face of difficulties. Instead, we should face them bravely and try our best to solve them. It is best for us to work together with others when we have problems. Also, we need to be confident and work hard to be excellent.
In our daily life, we can put Winter Olympics Spirits into practice. For example, we can work with others to deal with our study or life difficulties. Asking for others’ advice is a good way to solve a problem when we don’t have any good ideas. Besides, it’s necessary for us to help those who are in need. Helping others is helping ourselves.
There are a lot of things we can do to realize the Winter Olympics Spirits. If everyone does this way, we will have a more beautiful world, a stronger country and a better self as well.
