Do you remember the elephant “tour group” in Yunnan? Where are they now? They are back at their home!
In March, 2020, a family of 15 wild Asian elephants left their habitat in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. Since then, they had kept going north, through mountains, forests, rivers and even city streets. Along their journey, they ran into villages and ate farmers’ corn. But no one blamed(责怪)them. “It is OK. They are just hungry,” a farmer said.
Scientists guessed that the elephants were losing their habitat, so they might go north to look for a new home with more food. Or the group might lose its way because its leader had no experience!
To help the elephants get home and protect them, the government used 76 police cars and trucks, as well as five diggers and nine drones(无人机). Police and scientists closely watched them. They watched the group’s movement and sent warnings(警示)to nearby people not to get close to the elephants. They also helped them with food and drink. Finally, the elephants ended their trip safely and happily after 17 months and a 500-kilometer journey.
The Asian elephant is the largest land animal in Asia. Yunnan is the only habitat for wild Asian elephants in China. The province has built 11 nature reserves. There are only 300 of them in China. The WWF is working hard to save them.

Doing housework is part of the family life. Some parents refuse to let kids do housework to make them enjoy more playtime. Others teach kids to do housework to make kids become independent. Then here comes the question: ________. My answer is yes and the following are my reasons.
Doing housework teaches kids life skills. Many of the life skills are things that teachers do not teach, so it’s even more important for kids to learn to do housework.
Doing housework makes kids learn to take on responsibilities and independence. Living with their parents, they should know that everyone in the family should do their part in keeping the house clean. As long as kids can do things by themselves, they won’t always ask their parents for help.
Ding housework helps kids understand their parents better. When parents do the housework, most kids think it’s easy. Unless kids try some housework themselves, they won’t know how hard their parents are. However, giving them housework may help this insight come quickly.
Doing housework helps improve kids’ planning shills. When kids have schoolwork, housework and free time activities in a day, they need to decide what to do first. This way, they will improve their planning skills.
It’s true that studies are important to kids, but it doesn’t mean that kids need to spend all the time on their studies. At different ages, there is some housework that is right for kids. If they can do it, it will be good for their development.

When I was a girl growing up, I cannot once ever remember either my mum or my grandma wasting (浪费) food.
Anything we didn’t eat at one meal was leftovers(剩菜). I can remember my grandma making a large pot of potatoes. We would all eat until we were full enough, but there were always about half of the potatoes leftover. A few days later, Grandma would take those potatoes out, cook some noodles, add some vegetables and mix them all together. And I also remember I watched my mum cook meat for us in the mornings. She would always take the oil (油) carefully and pour it into a container (容器). Then she would use the oil late to add taste to many other dishes. Before I grew up, I never knew potatoes didn’t taste like meat at all!
I learned their lessons well, and after I grew up. I tried not to waste food myself. I always planned the week’s meals and only bought the things on the plan so that nothing went to waste. Every meal went into our mouths, and either my family or my dogs ate any leftover later. To me, throwing food was just a terrible thing.
However, when it comes to life, there are no leftovers. Life is just like a feast. Each day is a fresh beginning. Live each minute of your life to the fullest, then.
