Do people in the United States eat spicy (辣的) food? It seems that many Chinese people don’t think so. But in fact, we Americans too have a long tradition of eating spicy food and we like eating something hot as well. I guess I could start with Tex-Mex food. Tex-Mex is a fusion (融合) of Mexican and American food. It's really popular in Texas and other southwestern US states. One of the main foods is Texas-style chili con came (辣肉酱).
The US is also home to many “chiliheads”. These people are famous for their love for hot chili peppers (辣椒). Chiliheads like to collect and eat really spicy peppers. The hottest chili pepper in the world is the Carolina Reaper. It grows in the US state of South Carolina.
But spicy food in the US can be different from that of China. Spicy dishes in the US have a “slow burn”. They don't sting (刺痛) your mouth right away, but slowly become hotter as you eat more. On the other hand, spicy Chinese food like Sichuan hotpot can be very spicy as soon as you start to eat it. It can give you a running nose in a few seconds.

( ) 28. Where does the hottest chili pepper grow?
A. In Britain. B. In America. C. In China.

A. The differences in spicy food between China and the US.
B. Spicy food in the US will become hotter as you cat more.
C. Different kinds of hot chili peppers from two countries.
( ) 30. Which column (栏目) does this article come from?
A. Campus Life. B. Daily News. C. All About.
