“T truly crss that bridge, the rbt needs high cmputing pwer, high decisinmaking speed, lw pwer cnsumptin, high flexibility f resurce scheduling, and easytuse cmputing parts, s as t run algrithms (算法) lcally in real time,” Shi Luping, a prfessr at Tsinghua University and Ma Sngchen, a Tsinghua Ph. Right nw, prcessing units cannt efficiently meet AI's needs fr ecnmical and adaptable prcessing. But neurmrphic (神经形态的) systems culd be a slutin. T invent a new neurmrphic cmputing system that can cmpletely supprt the netwrks, Ma and his clleagues first created a framewrk called Rivulet. “It's challenging t design rbtfriendly equipment, and there are few multitasking prcessrs specifically designed fr intelligent rbts,” wrte Shi and Ma. “We think f hw we prcess infrmatin t make decisins reflexively—it's the quality f brain regins. Then we cme up with a Rivulet mdel, which enables multiple netwrk tasks t schedule resurces n the chip (芯片) efficiently and flexibly.”
Using the Rivulet mdel, the scientists built an electrnic chip labeled TianjicX, as well as additinal sftware. They put bth int a mbile rbt named Tianjicat and ran it thrugh a catandmuse game. During the game, Tianjicat had t carry ut varius AI instructins t catch the rbt muse, which mved randmly within a space with barriers using visual recgnitin and sund detectin.
