When Marion Sheppard began to go blind in her 40s, she cried, screamed, and felt sorry for herself. The doctor said she would never regain her vision (视力). It would only get worse, “This isn’t fair,” Sheppard said over and over again.
Since she was a little girl, Sheppard had always been a dance lover. But now she was so scared that she would never leave her apartment. She was afraid that, unable to see a stranger, she would be hurt on the streets. But mostly, she worried about the way she would appear to the world. She continually wondered, “What if people look at me differently and treat me differently?”
But after several months of sadness and fear, Sheppard started to tell herself, “You don’t understand yet, but you’ve got to keep moving.”
As hard as it was, Sheppard forced herself to go out. She pushed herself to attend various social events. As a single mother of one daughter, Sheppard continued her library job at The New York Times until her vision further got worse in her 50s. She kept moving, and she kept dancing, following her passion.
Sheppard was 61 when she attended a summer camp for the blind in 2008, where she taught her first dancing class. After that, she asked a Manhattan community center if she could teach there, but was refused because it would be too dangerous for the students. At last, she made the managers believe that she could teach very well as a volunteer.
Right up until the COVID-19 closed things down, Sheppard was teaching over a dozen people to move to the music. But Sheppard taught her beloved students on far more than dance steps. With confidence-building words and encouragement, she also gave them dignity (自尊) and independence.
In Sheppard’s classes, each student would dance in the center of the group, making moves as the others cheer them on. As Sheppard says, “We may be blind, but we’re doing our thing.”
    26. What was Sheppard mostly afraid of after going blind?
    A. The danger on the streets. B. Losing the self-care ability.
    C. The way people treated her. D. Being unable to dance anymore.
    27. When did Sheppard’s vision further get worse?
    A. In her 40s. B. In her 50s. C. When she was 61. D. In 2008.
    28. Why did the community center refuse Sheppard’s request?
    A. It needed a lot of space. B. It was Sheppard’s first class.
    C. It required volunteers in class. D. It might cause danger to students.
    29. Which of the following is correct about Sheppard’s classes?
    A. They are only for the blind. B. They are cheaper than other classes.
    C. They are filled with lots of training. D. They are good for people’s mental (精神的) health.
    30. What can we learn from Sheppard?
    A. Willpower can fight off illness. B. Dancing makes people happier.
    C. Dreams break down difficulties. D. Good attitudes light up our lives.
C 27. B 28. D 29. D 30. D
根据“But mostly, she worried about the way she would appear to the world. She continually wondered, ‘What if people look at me differently and treat me differently?’”
根据“Sheppard continued her library job at The New York Times until her vision further got worse in her 50s”可知,Sheppard的视力在50多岁时进一步恶化。故选B。
根据“After that, she asked a Manhattan community center if she could teach there, but was refused because it would be too dangerous for the students.”
根据“But Sheppard taught her beloved students on far more than dance steps. With confidence-building words and encouragement, she also gave them dignity (自尊) and independence.”
根据“But after several months of sadness and fear, Sheppard started to tell herself, ‘You don’t understand yet, but you’ve got to keep moving.’”,“She kept moving, and she kept dancing, following her passion.”
    D
For teenagers, success is usually the achievement of a goal or completion of something they really need, such as good grades and the ability to get along well with their classmates. Some schools used to measure (判定) the success of students according to grades, but now they pay special attention to moral (道德的) education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building human relationships.
Schools give chances to students to discover their hidden ability so that they can achieve success. For example, students who are good at speaking skills are advised to take part in speech competitions, and those interested in dancing are encouraged to perform in front of their classmates. Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.
Teenagers are often told that success is not easy to achieve and that success lies in hard work. Great efforts have to be put into project work. Teenagers are less likely to do things later than planned because this will lead to mountains of work and will finally make them nervous. Another good quality (品质) is a sense of responsibility which makes them remember that a task has to be completed.
Sticking to moral values is the key to success too. Honest teenagers will win the trust of friends and develop good relationships. Self-motivation (自我激励) is another quality to be developed. Because self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will to finish a task and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.
    31. What does the underlined word “they” in Paragraph l refer to (指代)?
    A. Their classmates. B. Some schools.
    C. Most parents. D. Their children.
    32. Why are students given chances to take part in activities?
    A. To get good grades B. To improve speaking ability.
    C. To express their love for arts D. To get the pleasure of success.
    33. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
    A. Project work makes teenagers nervous.
    B. Good qualities will lead to a happy life.
    C. Teenagers are advised to complete tasks in time.
    D. Taking responsibility will make work much easier.
    34. What is important for making students strong-minded?
    A. Honesty. B. Self-motivation
    C. Communication. D. Friends’ trust.
    35. What can be the best title for the text?
    A. The Value of Moral Education
    B. The Key to Discovering Hidden Ability
    C. The Meaning of Success to Teenagers
    D. The Way to Communicate with Others
B 32. D 33. C 34. B 35. C
根据“Some schools used to measure (判定) the success of students according to grades, but now they pay special attention to moral (道德的) education and character-building to make sure teenagers achieve success in building human relationships.”
根据“Teenagers also get the pleasure of success when they join their favorite clubs.”
根据“Another good quality (品质) is a sense of responsibility which makes them remember that a task has to be completed.”
根据“Self-motivation (自我激励) is another quality to be developed. Because self-motivated teenagers will have the strong will to finish a task and finally get to enjoy a sense of achievement.”

We all know that exercise is good for us, don’t we? ____36___ Just thinking about having to run or swim a long way can be enough to make some people want to lie down and give up! However, did you know that exercise is not all about doing sport?
____37___ Moving our bodies causes our brains to give out some special chemicals that create a good feeling. Just ten minutes of working out can leave us feeling happier. Sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?
____38____ If exercise hasn’t been part of your life for a long time, there is no point training for a marathon (马拉松): you will soon give up and go back to your old ways! Walking and riding bikes around the local park for ten minutes every day are great ways to develop a fitness habit. Choose an activity that not only exercises your body, but that you also enjoy. Some people simply go jogging while listening to their favourite music. Others take up activities such as dancing or playing basketball with their friends. Make the experience more enjoyable as you work out. ____39____
It doesn’t matter how much we exercise. Doing regular exercise isn’t just about appearance.

38.根据“Walking and riding bikes around the local park for ten minutes every day are great ways to develop a fitness habit. 故选A。

A man in black clothes jumps high into the air. Before he lands, he strikes (摆出) a pose. Sometimes, he carries a red fan . With long white sleeves , he spreads his arms like wings. His dance is eye-catching, often attracting crowds.
He is Chinese dancer Ma Jiaolong. Since 2020, he’s made short videos of himself dancing in London. He has performed at the city’s parks and iconic landmarks like Tower Bridge. The 35-year-old has nearly 5 million followers on Douyin, where he shares his videos.
Classical Chinese dance combines martial arts movements with those of traditional Chinese opera. He started to learn it at 12. “I was attracted by the dancers who play ancient heroes through the movements of classical Chinese dance,” said Ma.
Later, Ma studied at the Beijing Dance Academy. Since 2019, he has been teaching classical Chinese dance at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Two years ago, Ma had to give online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his small home, he could only make small moves. One day, he took his wife’s suggestion and danced at Greenwich Park, a popular tourist spot. She recorded Ma. He then edited the video, added music and sent it to friends. “Surprisingly, they loved it, which inspired me to share it online,” said Ma.
Later, Ma made more short videos. He combines his dance moves with dazzling (令人赞叹的) action. People are often curious about his performances. So, while dancing, he likes to interact with them. As his videos went viral (走红), he received messages from people around the world.
“Now, making and sharing short videos has become a part of my life, and, most importantly, a great way to introduce classical Chinese dance to more people, especially overseas viewers,” said Ma.

    【解析】本文主要谈论了ChatGPT(人工智能聊天机器人程序)在学校教育中是否应该被禁止使用。
故填a。
根据“ChatGPT is a powerful tool that...(develop) by US company OpenAI in 2022.”可知,“that...(develop) by US company OpenAI in 2022”是定语从句,先行词为tool,从句的主语that与动词develop之间是被动关系,且从句时态为一般过去时,所以该从句应用一般过去时的被动语态,其谓语结构是was done, develop的过去分词是developed。故填was developed。
根据“such as...(write) stories and emails, creating recipes, translating languages, and answering questions”可知,此空应用write的动名词形式。故填writing。
根据“Some schools in the US, Australia and France...(stop) the use of ChatGPT recently.” 故填have stopped。
根据“prevented students and teachers...(easy) using ChatGPT”可知,此空应是easy的副词形式easily,修饰现在分词using。故填easily。
根据“make it much...(easy) for students to cheat on homework”可知,此空前是程度副词much,此空应用形容词easy的比较级easier。故填easier。
根据“making changes to...(they) classes to block the use of ChatGPT”可知,此空后是名词classes,此空应用they的形容词性物主代词their。故填their。
根据上文“Apart from bans (禁令), teachers are making changes to...(they) classes to block the use of ChatGPT.” 故填However。
根据“to...(complete) stop the tool”可知,此空应用complete的副词形式completely“完全地,彻底地”,修饰动词stop。故填completely。

I am Li Hua from Class 6, Grade 9. I am very interested in the Chinese Traditional Culture Festival. Here are some of my suggestions about how to spread traditional Chinese culture.
First of all, I think we can read some books and watch videos about Chinese traditional culture so that we can learn a lot from them. Second, there should be some traditional culture clubs for us to join, such as paper-cutting clubs and opera clubs. Next time when we need to introduce traditional culture to people from different countries or people who are not familiar with our customs, we know what to do. In addition, it’s a good idea to draw some posters and put them up in our schoolyard.
To put it simply, it’s necessary to understand and spread the true spirit of our Chinese traditional culture. I hope these ideas will be helpful. Yours, Li Hua
