Animals and trees are very important to us.
Animals can help us get rid of pests, such as frogs. Some animals can also provide food for us, like bees and cows. Trees can absorb harmful gases from industrial production and clean the air. Trees can also help us reduce noise pollution and we can also use them to make furniture. But today more and more animals and trees are in great danger. Many of them are endangered. Animals are hunted and killed by people for money and meat. Humans also cut down too many trees and the environment is polluted seriously.
How can we protect the endangered animals and trees? The government should set up more animal protection laws. We should also learn more about animals. Our government should develop laws to stop the sale of animals. As for trees, the government should severely punish those who cut down trees and those who break the law. It should also encourage people to grow more trees.

One day Maria was in her room when she saw her neighbor, Mrs. Garcia, carrying a gardening tool (园林工具) and a bag of soil. Maria wanted to know how Mrs. Garcia could garden in the city. She went out and met her.

Maria thought Mrs. Garcia would take her to a park or somewhere else, but she took her to the roof (房顶). When the door opened, Maria was surprised to see so many flowers and vegetables on the roof.
“What an excellent garden!” said Maria.
