Step 5  Language points

1. ...you look tired. ……你看起来很累。

look 用作连系动词，意为“看起来”，后接形容词作表语。

The sweater looks very nice. 这件毛衣看起来很好。

【拓展】初中阶段常见的连系动词还有:

taste（有……的味道）；sound（听起来）；smell（有/发出……气味）；feel（觉得，摸起来）；seem（好像）；become（变得）；get（变得）；turn（变得）

The meat smells bad. Don’t eat it. 这肉有坏了的气味，不要吃了。

2. Who are you playing against? 你们和谁比赛?

against  用作介词，意为“与……比赛/对抗”。

be against 意为“反对”，其反义短语be for意为“赞成”。

Our team played against Class Three. 我们队与三班进行了比赛。

The soldiers fought against the enemies fiercely.

战士们与敌人激烈战斗。

Are you against or for this plan? 你是反对还是赞成这个计划?

3. What does HAS stand for?  HAS代表什么?

stand for意为“代表，是……的缩写”。

What does PIN stand for?  PIN代表什么？

NBA stands for National Basketball Association.

NBA是National Basketball Association的缩写。

4. Didn’t they beat you last time? 上一次他们没有打败你们吗？

They beat all the other teams and won the match.

他们打败了其他队, 赢得了比赛。

5. That was a bad decision. 那是个糟糕的决定。

decision 名词，意为“决定”，make decisions/a decision意为“做决定”，make decisions/a decision to do sth. 意为“决定做某事”，与decide to do sth. 同义。

We made a decision to go there at once. 我们决定立刻去那里。

6. You’ve got no chance! 你们没有机会！

chance名词，意为“机会, 可能性”。常见短语有：

get/have a chance 有机会

by chance 碰巧, 偶然, 意外

If you have a chance to go abroad, take it. 如果你有机会出国, 就去吧。

I met him in the library by chance. 我碰巧在图书馆遇见了他。

7. Remember to throw the ball... 记得投球……

Remember to turn off the lights when you leave the room.

在你离开房间时, 记得把灯关了。（还没有关灯）

I remembered turning off the lights when I left the room.

我记得当我离开房间的时候我关灯了。（记忆中灯已经关了）

8. He’s so mad at us that he’ll try harder to win, just to show we’re wrong! 他对我们如此生气以至于一定会更努力赢得胜利，以证明我们的看法是错的！

（1）be mad at/with sb. 意为“生某人的气”。

He is never mad at/with anybody. 他从不生任何人的气。

【拓展】be mad about sth. 意为“对某事感到气恼”。

He was mad about the result. 他对这个结果感到气恼。

（2）so ...that 意为“如此……以至于……”，so后接形容词或副词，也可接“many/much/little（少）/few+名词”，that后接结果状语从句。

The movie is so interesting that I want to see it again.

这部电影如此有趣以至于我想再看一遍。

He has so much money that he can buy what he wants.

他有如此多的钱以至于可以买想要的东西。

9. I do hope they win this time. 我真的希望他们这次能赢。

“do/does/did+动词原形”是强调结构，只有一般现在时和一般过去时两种, 只对肯定的谓语动词进行强调，没有疑问和否定形式。do 在句中要重读。

Do be careful next time, please. 下次请务必小心。

She did tell me about her address, but I forgot all about it.

她确实告诉过我她的地址，但是我全忘了。

She does come from a European country. 她的确来自欧洲某个国家。

1. Listen and decide which words are weak and which words are strong.
