设计说明 设置有关基蒂住新公寓的问题,让学生进行小组讨论并回答,回顾上节课所学内容。通过问答对方所在公寓的情况,让学生积极表达,积极参与到课堂教学活动中来。将生词归类,集中借助几张图片呈现出来。通过听录音,完成基蒂说的关于她的新公寓的内容。让学生考虑并谈论自己所居住的场所,使课堂活动更贴近学生生活。这样可以提高学生运用所学知识进行表达的能力。接下来,让学生写出自己的街区的情况,并进行汇报,激发学生的语言表达兴趣, 提升课堂教学质量。最后,讲解知识点并设置练习,检验学生的掌握情况。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握本课节新词汇:bottom, steep, step, noisy, exciting, pleasant, relaxing, financial, church, statue, fountain; 巩固there be句型。 2.能力目标 能够听懂有关在不同地方生活的对话;能够向他人描述自己的街区。 3.情感目标 善于表达自己对周边环境的看法,善于倾听,提高社交能力。 重点难点 重点:掌握本课节新词汇bottom, steep, step, noisy, exciting, pleasant, relaxing, financial, church, statue, fountain; there be句型的应用。 难点:能够听懂有关在不同地方生活的对话;能够向他人描述自己的街区。 教学准备 PPT课件;活动Listen and say的录音;有关台阶、聚会、金融、教堂、雕塑、喷泉的照片。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Revision 1. Let the students work in groups. Discuss the following questions. Write the answers. (1) Where does Kitty live now? (2) Where is it on the map? (3) Is it near or far from her school? (4) How is her neighbourhood? (5) Does she enjoy living there? (6) How does she get to school every day? (7) How long does it take her to get to school? (8) Is it convenient for her family to go shopping? (9) Where do they usually shop? (10) How often do they go shopping? 2. Ask several groups to present their answers. The group with the most correct answers wins. 3. Check the answers together. Answers: (1) In Water Bay. (2) It’s in the north of the map. (3) It’s far from her school. (4) It’s not convenient. (5) Yes, she does. (6) She takes a bus to Sunshine Shopping Centre. Then she takes the underground to school. (7) It takes about forty minutes. (8) No, it isn’t. (9) In Sunshine Shopping Centre. (10) Once a week.
Step 2 Warming up 1. Let the students talk in groups. Ask and answer. (1) Where do you live? (2) Is it near or far from your school? (3) Do you like living there? (4) What can you see in your neighbourhood? 2. Ask some students to talk their neighbourhood in front of the class.
Step 3 Presentation Present the new words: bottom, steep, step, noisy, exciting, pleasant, relaxing, financial, church, statue, fountain.

Step 4 Grammar there be句型 1. 含义 表示在某地或某时存在某人或某物。 2. 句式 肯定句:There is+可数名词单数/不可数名词+地点/时间状语. There are+可数名词复数+地点/时间状语. There is milk in the cup.杯子里有牛奶。 There are five books on the desk.桌子上有五本书。 否定句:There isn’t+可数名词单数/不可数名词+地点/时间状语. There aren’t+可数名词复数+地点/时间状语. There isn’t milk in the cup.杯子里没有牛奶。 There aren’t any books on the desk.桌子上没有书。 一般疑问句:Is there +可数名词单数/不可数名词+地点/时间状语? Are there +可数名词复数+地点/时间状语? 肯定回答:Yes, there is/are. 否定回答:No, there isn’t/aren’t. Is there milk in the cup?杯子里有牛奶吗? Are there five books on the desk?桌子上有五本书吗? 【注意】当肯定句中有some时,变否定句和一般疑问句时,要将some改为any。 3. 主谓一致 当there be句型中有两个或两个以上的主语时,be动词的数由离它最近的那个名词决定。 There is a teacher and three students in the classroom. 教室里有一位老师和三名学生。 There are three students and a teacher in the classroom. 教室里有三名学生和一位老师。
Step 5 Listen and say 1. Let the students listen to Kitty talking about her new flat and complete her speech.
2. Play the recording again for them to check their answers. 3. Ask some students to read the speech in order to elicit the answers. 4. Check the answers. Answers: (1) suburbs (2) quiet (3) traffic (4) restaurants (5) flowers (6) birds (7) beach 5. Let some students read their speech.
Step 6 Think and talk 1. Let the students think about the following questions: (1) Do you like living in your neighbourhood? (2) Why/Why not? (3) What is it like? (4) What can you see there? 2. Let the students work in pairs, and discuss where he/she lives, like this:

4. Allow some pairs to share their dialogue.
Step 7 Write Let the students write a report about their neighbourhood.
