众所周知,作文中出现过多的简单句会让人觉得单调乏味,句子与句子之间的关系显得松散;而文章中过多地出现复合句又显得累赘,读起来费劲。恰当地运用非谓语动词对简单句和复合句进行转换,不仅使句型多样,句子活泼,而且读起来结构紧凑,言简意赅。
一、运用非谓语动词转换简单句
写作时,我们可以利用非谓语动词对两个简单句进行转换,使其成为较高级的表达方式。转换时可采用两步。
第一步:写出两个简单句。
①The bys were making the mst f time.
②They wanted t finish the wrk earlier.
第二步:保留句①,用非谓语动词改写句②。
The bys were making the mst f time s as t finish the wrk earlier.
例1 I hear that yu are recruiting sme vlunteers t welcme the cming freign students.I am gladly writing t apply fr this jb.
→Hearing that yu are recruiting sme vlunteers t welcme the cming freign students, I am gladly writing t apply fr this jb.
例2 I am writing t invite yu t attend the Chinese papercutting art exhibitin.It will be held in the art gallery frm 8:00 a.m. t 5: 00 p.m. next Sunday in ur city center.

二、运用非谓语动词转换复合句
用非谓语动词转换复合句比转换简单句要容易一些,因为需转换的一般是从句部分,这时只需要判断用哪种非谓语动词,再把握好时态和语态即可,所以只需两步。
8888第一步:写出一个复合句。
Since yu have realized that yur time is limited, yu're suppsed t make full use f it t wrk hard fr yur dream.
第二步:把since引导的原因状语从句转换为非谓语动词,realize与yu之间为主谓关系,且表示完成,故用现在分词的完成时作状语。

例1 Since I knw that yu are fnd f classical music, I'd like t invite yu t jin me in a perfrmance.

三、写作中非谓语动词的常用句型
1.remain t be dne有待于被……
Many questins have t be settled and much remains t be dne in ur educatinal wrk.
我们的教育工作中还有许多问题要解决,还有许多事情要去做。
2.连词when/while/nce/unless/althugh ...+ding/dne
Dn't reach sideways while standing n a ladder.
站在梯子上(的时候),不要侧着身子去够东西。
3.cmpared with/t ...与……比较
Cmpared with the escaped driver, I am prud f what I did.
与逃逸的司机相比,我为所做之事感到非常自豪。
4.be said/reprted/cnsidered d ...据说/报道/认为……

5.with+宾语+补足语
