BLaughter is in many ways our universal language. Humans love to laugh, and it's good that we do so, because laughing can reduce stress, improve our immune system and relieve pain.Jeannette Sanger,a laughter yoga instructor from New York, experienced the latter benefit last summer. She was cooking when a pot of boiling water overflowed and hurt her leg. “It was painful,” she said, but she forced herself to use her own skills as medicine and tried laughing to reduce the pain. “As my husband drove me to the nearest hospital, I was sitting in the back seat laughing," Sanger told The Huffington Post.“It successfully stopped me from giving my attention to the pain.”Even forced laughter like Sanger's can have a great effect on the body, according to Dr. Madan Kataria, a medical doctor from India who developed laughter yoga,a practice that draws on the breathing exercises of yoga to produce therapeutic(有疗效的)results. The doctor wa researching for an article entitled “Laughter-The Best Medicine” when he made the surprising discovery that both forced and sincere laughter can affect our health. In 2014,researchers at California's Loma Linda University found that older adults who watch funny videos show improvement in their powers of recall and show lower stress levels. Another study at the University of Maryland Medical Center found that people who laugh more and have a sense of humour are less likely to get heart disease.“Laughing is a way of learming how to play again," Sanger said. Sanger's classes start out with simple breathing and movement activities. “Motion creates emotion,”she said.24.What is Jeannette Sanger?A. A doctor.B.A cook.C.A researcher.D.A trainer.25.Why did Jeannette Sanger laugh?
A. To reduce stress.C.To relieve pain.B. To enjoy its benefit.D. To amuse herself
26. How can humor help people?A. It can result in more laughter.B. It can make you more sensitive.C. It's likely to cause heart disease.D. It may lead to memory recovery.27.What does the last sentence of the passage mean?A. By moving around you're changing your mood.B. Motion brings about great change to your emotion.C. Your emotion can be improved by moving a lot.D. Humor has both physical and psychological effects.CIn many cases, online classes can be a gift to college students everywhere. They're different from traditional classes in many ways, which can be a welcome relief for students. One thing that many college students probably dislike about traditional in-person classes is that they're inflexible. Whatever class you have, there is usually a specific schedule you need to follow and you must attend the class in person.By contrast, online classes are much more flexible. They don't require you to attend classes at a particular time, which means you have the opportunity to do your work whenever you see fit. Of course, this comes with a possible disadvantage if you aren't the best at managing your time. However, if you are efficientat managing your own schedule and getting your assignments and studying done in a timely manner, then online classes are a great option for you. Flexibility with your classes gives you the chance to make time for other important things in your life. Not only are online classes flexible, but they also offer a comfortable environment in which you can learn. Because you don't have to physically attend classes, you'll have the chance to work from wherever you want. So if you prefer learning and getting work done in a cafe, go to a cafe. If you would rather do your work in your bedroom, you have the freedom to do that.Another great thing about online classes is that there are quite a variety to choose from. You can find practically any degree program you want online to help you advance in your education and career. The costs of a college education definitely add up when you consider expenses for not only class credits, but also perhaps on-campus housing, textbooks, meal plans, and other fees. When it comes to online classes, however, you don't have to worry about all those extra expenses. As a result, online classes may be a good choice if you're looking to go down a more affordable route.28. Which is the structure of the passage?29. What's the author's attitude towards online learning according to paragraph 3?
A.Neutral.B.Supportive.C.Negative.D.Critical.
30. What may be a suitable title for the passage?A. Why online lessons are becoming popularB. How one can make good use of online classesC. Who can benefit greatly from online learningD. What students love about taking online classes31. Who are the intended readers of the passage?
A. Online educators.C. Online masters.B. University students.D. Computer programmers.
DWhen parents ask “What grade did you get?”, there is a common follow-up question: “So who got the highest grade?” Many educators select and publicly announce “the best student” in a class or school. Adults praise children for outperforming others. Sports tournaments award those who surpass others. The practice of making social comparisons is so common in daily life that the negative effects caused by social comparisons are usually ignored. One well-known strategy to get rid of social comparisons is to provide children with participation awards, which means children get the same prize despite their performance. Such awards, however, may not abolish social comparisons. High-performing children may feel unjustly treated and look down on the latter group. More generally those who receive unwarranted(无正当理由的)rewards may come to believe they deserve to receive the recognition. How, then, can we make children feel proud of themselves and motivate them without the unwanted side effects? A better approach is to use temporal comparisons-encouraging children to compare themselves with their past self rather than with others.Researchers recently conducted a study, where 583 children were asked to do a reading-and-writing exercise designed to influence the kind of comparisons they would make: social comparisons or temporal comparisons. Results showed children who compared themselves with others said they wanted to be superior to such people, while those who compared themselves with their past self said they wanted to improve rather than be superior. Temporal comparisons changed children's goals away from a desire for superiority and toward self-improvement.What, then, can parents and teachers do with this knowledge? Parents and teachers can praise children's improvement over time to let them know they are making progress. Also, teachers can create learning contexts that track children's own progress over time, such as report cards that display their changes in learning and performance.Of course, temporal comparisons are not a panacea; we should never push children too much to improve themselves. The road toward self-improvement is paved with struggles and setbacks. Rather than making children feel bad for those failures, we should encourage them to learn from their imperfect past self-and thus help youngsters become better than before.32. What can we know about the strategy mentioned in paragraph 2?A. It is in high-performing children's favor.B. It stresses the importance of teamwork.C. It may make all the children more confident.D. It may discourage high-performing children.33. What does the research finding suggest?A. Children have a desire to feel proud of themselves.B. Temporal comparisons make for self-improvement.C. Children need to be exposed to various comparisons.D. Social comparisons give children a sense of superiority.34. What does the underlined “panacea” most probably mean?
A.Cure-all.B.Routine.C.Priority.D.Benefit.
35.Which of the following may the author agree with?A. Failure can be avoided by equality. B. Comparisons will lead to failure.C. Failure is an opportunity to learn. D. Comparisons are difficult to abolish.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。How to be funnyHumor can help you connect with other people and make unpleasant situations a little more bearable. Being funny might seem like it takes a lot of work, but it's actually not that hard once you tap into your inner sense of humor.36Learn a little about what makes you laugh. Laughter itself is unconscious. While it's possible for us to keep ourselves from laughing, it is very hard for us to produce laughter on demand, and doing so will usually seem “forced”. Fortunately, laughter is very contagious(有感染力的).37Learn to laugh in boring or unfunny circumstances. It's good to know that the less funny a place is, the easier it becomes to add the element of humorous surprise. 38 This is why The Office, the originally a BBC 2 show that was remade by NBC,uses an office as its setting: it's about as boring as it gets. We're not used to looking at an office as a funny place, so when it is funny, it’s especially funny.39 Being funny doesn't come in a “one-size-fits-all” package. What makes you funny is unique to you and the way you observe the world. Trust that you do have a funny bone.40 And all children express humor naturally from kindergarten age, using humor to entertain themselves and others. It's already in you-you just need to bring it out!A. Trust in your inner sense of humor.B. As babies we laugh from four months of age.C. Maybe you don't think you’re naturally funny.D. Studies have shown that humor makes us laugh the most.E.There are things you can do to make yourself and other people laugh.F. In a social context, it's easy to start laughing when others are laughing.G. It might be easier to get people to laugh in an office workplace than in a comedy club.第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分45分)第一节(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。It was one fine Saturday winter evening when I got off the bus to visit my friend's place which was around a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
