There is a story about a man who lost his legs and left arm in an accident. After the accident, only a finger and thumb on his right hand remained.
He was a brilliant, creative, and educated man. He had gained a lot of experience while traveling around the world, so he became very depressed after his accident. He was afraid that he would spend the rest of his life suffering and would no longer be able to spend his life in a meaningful way. Then, he realized that he still had partial function of his right hand and could still write even though it was very difficult. An idea occurred to him. “Why not write to other people who need encouragement?”
He wrote to the prison ministry about sending letters to the prisoners. The prison minister replied, “Writing to the prisoners is acceptable, but your letters will not be answered.”
Filled with excitement, the man knew he could write his letters. He began sending oneway messages of God's love, hope, strength, and encouragement. He wrote twice a week, testing his strength and ability to the limit. He poured his heart and soul into his words and shared his experience, sense of humor, optimism, and faith.
It was difficult to write those letters, especially without hope of a reply. One day he received a letter from the prison ministry. It was a short note from the officer who monitored and checked the prison mail.
The letter said, “Please write on the best paper you can afford. Your letters are passed from cell to cell until they literally fall to pieces!”
No matter what circumstances life may present, we all have unique experiences, abilities, and Godgiven talents. We can discover ways to reach others who desperately need messages of encouragement and strength.
24.According to the prison minister, ________.
A.the man was not allowed to write to the prisoners
B.the man couldn't go to see the prisoners himself
C.he was not sure if the prisoners liked receiving the letters
D.the prisoners were not allowed to answer the letters
25.In order to live in a meaningful way, the man began to ________.
    A.receive the school education
B.meet the people who are depressed
C.write to other people who need encouragement
D.help other people with lost arms and legs
26.What can be the best title for the passage?
A.Special Letters of Encouragement B.Popularity of Special Letters
C.Stories about a Humorous Person D.Life in the Prison
27.From the officer's short note we are told that ________.
A.the man would be offered free paper to write letters on
B.his letters were very popular among the prisoners
C.the prisoners eagerly wanted to write back to the man
D.some of the prisoners were not satisfied with his letters

Many people believe Henry Ford invented the automobile . But Henry Ford did not start to build his first car until 1896.That was eleven years after two Germans developed the world's first automobile. Many people believe Henry Ford invented the production line that moved a car's parts to the worker, instead of making the worker move to the parts. That is not true, either. Many factory owners used methods of this kind before Ford. What Henry Ford did was to use other people's ideas and make them better. And he made the whole factory a moving production line.
In the early days of the automobile, almost every car maker raced his cars. It was the best way of gaining public notice. Henry Ford decided to build a racing car. Ford's most famous race was his first one. It was also the last race in which he drove the car himself.
The race was in 1901, at a field near Detroit. All of the most famous cars had entered, but only two were left: the Winton's and Ford's. The Winton was famous for its speed. Most people thought the race was over before it began.
The Winton took an early lead. But halfway through the race, it began to lose power. Ford started to gain. And near the end of the race, he took the lead. Ford won the race and defeated the Winton. His name appeared in newspapers and he became wellknown all over the United States. Within weeks of the race, Henry Ford formed a new automobile company. In 1903, a doctor in Detroit bought the first car from the company.That_sale was the beginning of Henry Ford's dream. Ford said, “I will build a motor car for the great mass of people. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for one person to operate and care for. It will be built of the best materials. It will be built by the best men to be employed. And it will be built with the simplest plans that modern engineering can produce. It will be so low in price that no man making good money will be unable to own one.”
The Model T was a car of that kind. It only cost $850.It was a simple machine that drivers could depend on. Doctors bought the Model T. So did farmers. Even criminals. They considered it the fastest and surest form of transportation. Americans loved the Model T. They wrote stories and songs about it. Thousands of Model T were built in the first few years.
28.What do we know about Henry Ford from Paragraph 1?
A.He made good use of ideas from others.
B.He produced the first car in the world.
C.He knew how to improve auto parts.
    D.He invented the production line.
29.Why did Henry Ford take part in the 1901 car race?
A.To show off his driving skills.
    B.To draw public attention.
    C.To learn about new technology.
D.To raise money for his new company.
30.“That sale” in Paragraph 4 refers to ________.
A.the selling of Ford cars at reduced prices
B.the sale of Model T to the mass of people
C.the selling of a car to a Detroit doctor
D.the sales target for the Ford Company
31.What was Henry Ford's dream according to the text?
    A.Producing cars for average customers.
B.Building racing cars of simple design.
    C.Designing more car models.
    D.Starting more companies.
根据短文第一段倒数第二句话 “What Henry Ford did was to use other people's ideas and make them better.”
根据短文第二段中的 “It was the best way of gaining public notice.”

Thirty years ago, Switzerland-based artist Klaus Littmann came across a great drawing, titled The Unending Attraction of Nature. The drawing, by Austrian artist and architect Max Peintner, displays a scene in which nature is so detached(分离) from the environment that it becomes just a small piece, preserved for amusement. Given that we are now losing 18.7 million acres of forests each year, Peintner’s drawing was prescient, to say the least.
“When I first saw the 1970/71 pencil drawing, I was fascinated. I knew that one day this work would be the starting point for a major art project in public space,” says Littmann.
Now, decades later, Littmann has achieved the vision with the installation(移植) of FOR FOREST: The Unending Attraction of Nature. The installation sets a native central European forest in the middle of Wörthersee Football Stadium in Klagenfurt. With nearly 300 trees planted, some weighing up to six tons each, it is Austria’s largest public art installation.
In the face of climate crisis and deforestation(毁林), FOR FOREST comes with a more pressing urgency. As explained in a statement about the installation: “In support of today’s most pressing issues on climate change and deforestation, FOR FOREST aims to challenge our understanding of nature and question its future. It seeks to become a memorial(纪念物), reminding us that nature, which we so often take for granted, may someday only be found in special spaces, as is already the case with animals in zoos.”
The actual creation of the manmade forest was managed by landscape architect Enzo Enea and his company, Enea Landscape Architecture. It includes many kinds of trees. Having opened on September 8, one can imagine it already attracting surprised and happy creatures to the field. Regretfully, the installation will be closed soon. In a short video about the work, Littman says his goal was never to make something that would last forever; rather, he says, “My goal is for this picture to remain in people’s head for a lifetime.”
    32. What does the underlined word “prescient” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
    A. Able to affect the future.
    B. Able to last long enough.
    C. Able to draw much attention.
    D. Able to know what will happen.
    33. Why is the drawing The Unending Attraction of Nature described?
    A. To show it is one of Littmann’s masterpieces.
    B. To emphasis it left a deep impression on Littmann.
    C. To indicate it’s the source of Littmann’s inspiration.
    D. To present it is an example of the nature-themed art.
    34. What is the significance of the installation?
    A. It seeks to become a memorial.
    B. It is friendly to the environment.
    C. It is Austria’s largest artistic work.
    D. It warns people of environmental issues.
    35. What can we know about the manmade forest according to the last paragraph?
    A. It was made and managed by Littman.
    B. It won’t last for a long time.
    C. It didn’t attract much interest.
    D. It includes some special animals.
    32-35 DCDB
根据第一段的“...displays a scene in which nature is so detached from the environment that it becomes just a small piece, preserved for amusement”可知,这幅画描绘了一幅自然与环境分离的景象,大自然只留下了供人们参观娱乐的这么一小块;再结合后面的“Given that we are now losing 18.7 million acres of forests each year”可知,在如今每年如此巨大的森林流失量的背景下,这幅画所描绘的景象可能就是对未来的预测。
The Unending Attraction of Nature这幅画是因为它给了Littmann创作的灵感与启发。故选C。
根据第四段“In support of today’s most pressing issues on climate change and deforestation...in zoos.”

依据上文中的“the sun rises higher and higher”和“one of the great turning points”及常识可知,太阳在夏至这一天是最高的,故用最高级。
When it comes to...
本句的主语是“eating lychees (荔枝) during the summer solstice”,因此谓语动词用is。
    9.答案与解析:that/which 考查定语从句。

    Dear Editor,
I am a senior high school student. Recently I’ve found that more and more students had mobile phones on their own.
They think them a fashion to have one ever since it’s very easy to keep in touch with their friends. However, some often takes their mobiles to the classroom. Sometimes we are disturbed by a suddenly ring. What’s bad, some even send messages in class wasted much of their time.
Our classroom is what we give all our attention to what we need to learn. The less we are disturbed in class, the better our achievements will be. Therefore, when a lesson is on no mobile phones should be allowed to brought into the classroom.
    Yours,
    Li Hua
