The weather is getting hotter. You are thirsty playing basketball or riding home from school. A cold drink may be just the thing. But be careful what you are drinking.[来源:Zxxk.Com]
Something that looks cool may not be good for your health.
There are plenty of “energy drinks” on the market. Most of them have beautiful colors and cool names. The lists on them tell you they are helpful to your health.
Sounds great! But after a careful check you may find that most energy drinks have lots of caffeine in them. These drinks are especially aimed at young people,
students, busy people and sports players. Makers sometimes say their drinks make you better at sports and can keep you awake. But be careful not to drink too much.
Caffeine makes your heart beat fast. Because of this, the International Olympic Committee has limited its use. Caffeine in most energy drinks is at least as strong as that in a cup of coffee or tea. Possible health dangers have something to do with energy drinks. Just one box of energy drink can make you nervous, have difficulty sleeping and can even cause heart problems. Scientists say that teenagers should be discouraged from taking drinks with a lot of caffeine in them.

If you know something is bad for you, why can't you just stop? About 70% of smokers say they would like to stop. Drug and alcohol abusers (酗酒者) struggle to give up the bad habits that hurt their bodies and destroy families and friendships. And many of us have unhealthy weight that we could lose if only we would eat right and exercise more. So why don't we do it?
Some scientists have been searching for answers. They've studied what happens in our brains as habits form. They've found answers to why bad habits, once formed, are so difficult to kick. And they're developing ways to help us make the changes we'd like to make.
Habits are a normal part of life, and are often helpful. "We wake up every morning, shower, comb our hair or brush our teeth without being aware of it,"Volkow says. We can drive along familiar routes without really thinking about the directions. "When behaviors become automatic(不假思索的),it gives us an advantage, because the brain does not have to perform the action on purpose. "Volkow says. This frees up our brains to focus on different things.
One way to kick bad habits is to focus on your unhealthy habits. Then try your best to stop them. For example, habits can be linked in our minds to certain places and activities. You could develop a plan, say, to avoid walking down the hall where there's a candy machine. Try to avoid going places where you've usually smoked. Stay away from friends and situations linked to problem drinking or drug use.
Another helpful way is to replace unhealthy habits with new, healthy ones. "It doesn't work for everyone, "Volkow says. "But certain groups of patients who have a history of taking a drug can do something else like running and it helps them stay away from drugs."
    26. In the first paragraph, the writer mainly wants to tell us .
    A. we should stop something bad for us
    B. most smokers would like to stop smoking
    C. bad habits are really difficult to give up
    D. eating right and exercise more can lose weight

    A. find answers to solve the problem
    B. find ways to form good habits
    C. kick their own bad habits
    D. help us see how bad habits form
    28. Why are habits often of great help to us?
    A. because they make our life normal.
    B. because they made us do something better.
    C. because they made us think more about life.
    D. because they make our brain focus on other things.
    29. If you want to kick bad habits you'd better .
    A. focus on them on purpose B. go to the places linked with them
    C. do something linked with them D. ask your friends for help
    30. What is the main idea of the passage?
    A. Breaking bad habits. B. Forming good habits.
    C. Finding reasons for bad habits D. Replacing bad habits with good ones.

According to a 2018 study from San Francisco State University, nearly 2.4 billion people around the world used a smartphone in 2017. By the end of 2019, more than a third of the global population will be using a smartphone.
However, smartphone technology can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it sends us unlimited amounts of information. On the other hand, using a smartphone may become an addiction(瘾).
Erik Peter and Richard Harvey are both health education professors at San Francisco State University. They led the study. Peter explains that smartphone addiction forms connections in the brain that are similar to drug addiction. And these connections form slowly over time. Also, addiction to social media may affect our emotional state. The two professors asked 135 university students about their habits of smartphone use and their feelings. They found that students who used their phones the most reported higher levels of feeling lonely, depressed and anxious.
Peter and Harvey believe it is the tech industry's desire to make more money that is to blame for the technology addiction. The researchers warn that workers in the technology industry know how to control our brains and turn us into addicts.
But the researchers say that we can train our brains to be less addicted to our phones and computers. Erik Peter suggests turning off our phones before we sleep or do something important, and taking control of when and where you answer texts or emails. They also suggest putting limits on the time you spend on social media. If you want to catch up with your friends, set aside a small amount of time to it.
31.What can we infer from Paragraph 1?
    A. Smartphone use has become extremely common.

33.What did Erik Peter and Richard Harvey find about smartphone use?
    A. It can help reduce loneliness.
    B. It's more popular with students.
    C. It's preferred by young people feeling lonely.
    D. It can harm students' emotional state in many ways.
34.What does the last paragraph mainly want to tell us?
    A. Social media isn't that important to us.
    B. We can train our brains to do many things.
    C. We shouldn't become addicted to our smartphones.
    D. There are ways to deal with smartphone use addiction.
35.Which of the following is true?
    A. We can use smartphones to deal with loneliness.

    第二节、阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。(5分)
Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of exercise, and has a healthy weight. Here are five rules you can follow if you're a kid who wants to be fit.
    Eat a Variety of Foods
If you eat different kinds of foods, perhaps you can get the nutrients your body needs. Taste new foods and old ones you haven't tried for a while. Try to eat at least five kinds of fruits and vegetables a day—two kinds of fruits and three kinds of vegetables.
    Drink Water & Milk
When you're really thirsty, cold water is the best drink. Kids need calcium(钙) to build strong bones, and milk is a great source of this mineral. If you are younger than 9 years old, drink 2 cups of milk a day. If you're older than 9, aim for 3 cups of milk per day. You can eat or drink some other calciumrich dairy foods.
    Listen to Your Body
When you're eating, notice how your body feels and when your stomach feels comfortably full. Sometimes, people eat too much because they don't notice when they need to stop eating. Eating too much can make you feel uncomfortable and can lead to unhealthy weight gain.
    Limit Screen Time
Screen time means the amount of time you spend watching TV or DVDs, playing video games, and using a smartphone, or a computer. The more time you spend on screens, the less time available for exercise. Try to spend no more than 2 hours a day on screens.
    Be Active
Figure out what activities you like best. Ask your parents to help you do your favourite activities regularly. You might even write down a list of fun stuff to do, so you can refer to it when your mum or dad says it's time to stop watching TV or playing computer games!
    1.What does being fit mean?

2.How many kinds of fruits and vegetables should kids eat every day?

3.If you're 15 years old, how much milk should you drink every day?

4.How long should you spend on computers at most one day?

5.If we always eat too much, what will happen to us?

    第三节、语法填空(5分)
    阅读下面短文,按照句子的语法结构和上下文连贯的要求,在空白处填入适当的词或用括号中所给词的正确形式填空,每空不超过两个词。
