一、教材背景和学情分析
(一)本单元的话题和相关的语言知识
本单元的话题为奥运会(The Olympic Games),分别介绍了古代奥运会(They began in 776BC,about 3000 years ago)、现代奥运会(They held them in 1896 in Athens,Greece.)以及第29届北京奥运会(They won 51 gold medals,21 silver medals, and 28 bronze medals.),旨在通过以学习奥运会的知识为载体,更近一步提高、巩固对一般过去时的认识与运用。
(二)相关内容的上位知识分析以及结合上位知识分析确定的本单元的教学重;难点
本册书的重点是一般过去时,学生在四年级时初步接触过一般过去时,但是并没有深入的学习这个时态。本单元在全书中是学习一般过去时的第五个单元也是最后一个单元。
本单元的教学重点为:1)理解课文,了解奥运会的历史、古代运动会与现代奥运会的主要区别、29届北京奥运会的相关知识,2)总结不规则动词的过去式(began,thought,had, held,could,sent,read,went,were,came,won,set),3)运用所学句型来询问或描述已发生事情的时间(3000 years ago,in 1896)、数量(How many medals did Chinese sportsmen win?)等内容。4)在本单元还对冠词的用法进行了总结,包括a与an的区别。
本单元的教学难点: 1)本单元涉及奥运会及体育相关知识,词汇较难拼读、识记(the first modern Olympic Games the,3000,1500, 1896,,Athens,Greece, great success,gold/silver/bronze medals, sports festival); 语句较长(They began in 776 BC, about 3000 years ago./ And there are more events than in the modern Games than in the ancient /And the IOC decided that every four years a different city should host the Games. /They won more medals than they did at the 28th Games.)。2)不规则动词较多(began,thought,had, held,could,sent,read,went,were,came,won,set)
(三)各单元、各课知识点之间的联系、整合、铺垫与延伸
本书的前四单元已经学习了一般过去时,对于用when, where, who, what引导的一般过去时的特殊疑问句的结构已基本掌握,本单元又有所拓展,新增how many引导的特殊疑问句,以及用ago,in表示的过去的时间状语(three days ago,in 1896)。本单元前两课是了解古代运动会(the ancient Olympic Games)与现代奥运会(the modern Olympic Games),第一课得主句型为When did the ancient Olympic Games begin? They began in 776BC,about 3000 years ago:第二课的主句型为When did people hold the first modern Olympic Games?They held them in 1896 in Athens,Greece.第三课主要介绍第29届北京奥运会(the 29th Olympic Games), 功能句型 “How many medals did Chinese sportsmen win?”, 第四课为复习课,加入了冠词的用法总结。

(五)需要注意的地方:
1) Olympic容易误读成奥林匹克,注意o ,m的发音。/ send the letter
2) 奥运会的两种表达法:the Olympic Games、the Olympics.
3)拓展AD , BC
4) hold the Games/ host the Games的区别
5) ancient 在16课才作为生词学习,但在15课一开始就出现,建议提前学习。
二、本单元具体教学目标:
1. 正确、流利地朗读课文,了解古代奥林匹克运动会召开的时间,现代奥运会的起源,以及北京奥运会的相关内容,能听懂、会说 ‘When did …begin?’以及‘How many…did..?’及其答语的句子,并能在实际情境中运用。
2. 能够综合运用多种时间状语来描述已发生的事情(如:last Monday,yesterday evening,at 5 o’clock, early last Sunday , three days ago,in 1896),能够询问或描述一件事情的时间(when did…?)、地点(where did…?)、人物( Who…?)、数量(How many… did…?)、过程(what did…?)等信息,达到语用较熟练的程度。
3 能够听、说、读、写begin, thousand, history, hundred, modern, ancient, ago, man, take part in, host, such, success, win, number, shirt, set, bowl, 认读词汇:watched the movie, saw grandparents, sold tickets, read the book, sent the letter, set bowls on the table
