Dear Jim,
I am glad t knw that yu have jined yur schl's calligraphy club. The calligraphy piece sent t yu was written by myself. I really hpe yu will like it.
The Chinese characters n the piece are "天道酬勤"(Tian Da Chu Qin), meaning "Hard wrk pays ff." It is a well-knwn Chinese idim, widely adpted as a mtt by Chinese peple. I hpe it can serve as an encuragement t yu at all times. I wrte this piece in the calligraphic style f my favrite calligrapher, Yan Zhenqing, a renwned master f the Tang Dynasty. His style is kaishu, a standard script, suitable fr beginners. I guess maybe it is the style that yu are practising.
I knw it is nt easy t learn Chinese calligraphy. If yu have any prblems during yur study, I wuld be happy t help yu. I sincerely hpe yu enjy learning Chinese calligraphy.
