I have a strong___6___for the sport and always have. There is nothing like the excitement of playing: the swish(飕飕声)of the net, the sweat rolling off my cheeks, even the bruises(青肿)are battle wounds worn___7___after every game.

Should I move on? Or should I stay with my team and continue playing basketball with great passion just a little longer? The decision isn't difficult when I consider the joy that being a part of a team___9___me—and not just any team, but my team. I love basketball and my teammates. When I think about that, my_____10_____from the bench really isn't so bad after all.

Everyone has their own best film of the year. To see the 2020 best films recommended by experts on the BBC Culture, you may have unexpected findings.
Wolfwalkers
Wolfwalkers is the most delightful film of its director, Tomm Moore. Its courageous heroine is Robyn, the daughter of an English huntsman. Robyn and her father have the job of clearing the wolves from a forest near Kilkenny, but when Robyn goes exploring, she finds that one of those wolves can transform into a human girl. The plot of the film is extremely fun.
The Personal History of David Copperfield
This joyous and endlessly creative film directed by Armando Iannucci is a successful achievement that raises people's interest in Charles Dickens' adaptations. Iannucci roots it firmly in the poverty and class system of Victorian England. BBC Culture's review called it "a warm and lively David Copperfield for today".
The Assistant
The Assistant stars Julia Garner as the new employee who is occupied with work from before dawn until after dusk, answering phones, printing out scripts, unpacking bottles of water. It's regarded as a low-key version of The Devil Wears Prada. The film looks beyond one person to center on a wider company culture. There is a serious atmosphere throughout as we wait for the assistant to fight against her boss or accept that she is going to keep working for him.
Emma
Did the world need one more Jane Austen's adaptation? Not really, but this enchanting, colourful version is a very welcome addition. As Emma, Anya Taylor-Joy captures the heart and warmth beneath Austen, a heroine who likes giving orders and arranging marriages for others. Johnny Flynn played the role of her seemingly impossible love, Mr. Knightley.
21.If you are interested in adventure and fantasy, which movie will you watch?
A.Emma. B.Wolfwalkers.
C.The Assistant. D.The Personal History of David Copperfield.
22.What can we learn about the Assistant?

B
My first year living in Los Angeles, I was a birthday-party clown. I struggled a lot with my identity because, though I viewed myself as a filmmaker, everyone in my life viewed me as this ridiculous day job.
Once I was told, “Tomorrow you’re going to be Batman.” Now, keep in mind that at the time I had a giant mustache. I know a clown with a mustache is a huge red flag for parents. But I hadn’t wanted to alter my physical appearance for that job, because that would have been me subconsciously admitting I was more of a clown than an artist.
The next day, I went to the party in a huge public park, and I left my car parked far enough away so that the kids couldn’t see Batman pulling up in a PT Cruiser. Walking to the party, I started to regret my choice not to shave. “Gosh, this party is not going to go well.” Sure enough, once I got close enough for them to actually start making out the features of my face, the entire party broke out in laughter. I was so embarrassed that I wanted to turn around and run back to my Batmobile. But then the laughter kind of changed into cheering and applause. Feeling kind of warm and fuzzy inside, I wondered, “Is this what encouragement and support feel like? It’s so new.”
Then I decided to make an entrance for these kids. I was still about 20 yards away from the party when I started running. My cape was billowing in the wind, and mustache or not, in that moment, I was Batman. I ran into the party, and the kids were all high-fiving me. The dad was saying, “I told you, son. I told you Batman has a mustache.” Then he took me over to this huge birthday cake with a frosting Batman drawn on it, and the Batman has a mustache. I just stared at it in disbelief and learnt that instead of just admitting that the cake was messed up, the parents said, “Batman has a mustache. He just shaves it for his movies.”
That year, I struggled a lot with my identity; was I a filmmaker, or was I a clown? But that day, at least, there was no doubt in my mind what I was. I may not have been the hero that they ordered, and I certainly was not the hero they expected. But that day, I was the hero that they needed.
24.Why did “I” keep my mustache?
A.I struggled a lot for being a filmmaker.
B.I wanted to be a Batman in a birthday party.
C.I knew that a clown should wear a mustache.
D.I hadn’t wanted to change my appearance for the job.
25.How did “I” enter the party?
A.I ran fast. B.I high-fived.
C.I drove the car. D.I walked slowly.
26.How did “I” feel at the end of the party?
A.Satisfied. B.Astonished.
C.Disappointed. D.Ashamed.
【答案】24.D 25.A 26.A

But I hadn’t wanted to alter my physical appearance for that job, because that would have been me subconsciously admitting I was more of a clown than an artist.(我知道有胡子的小丑对于父母来说是一种鼓舞。
根据第四段中的“I ran into the party, and the kids were all high-fiving me.(我跑进派对,孩子们都跟我击掌)”可知,作者跑着进入派对。故选A。
根据最后一段最后一句“But that day, I was the hero that they needed.(但是那天,我是他们需要的英雄)”可推知,作者对自己的表现是满意的。A. Aatisfied.满意的;B. Astonished. 吃惊的;C. Disappointed.失望的;D. ashamed. 故选A。
C
In mid-2019, an Indonesian design team submitted a plan to an international design competition for a new type of submarine (潜艇). It wasn't designed for military purposes or for exploring the ocean. The main purpose of this submarine was to create ice blocks to replace sea ice in the Polar Regions.
In the summer months of 2019, a massive heat wave shocked Europe and broke a number of high temperature records. As the hot air moved north over the Arctic, the ice sheet covering Greenland melted at an unexpected rate. Ice melt at the poles is normal in the summer months. Lost ice is often regained by refreezing in winter. But the fast melting rate could mean a permanent loss of polar ice, which would have global consequences.
Dealing with such a large-scale problem requires large-scale solutions. While many solutions look at reducing the greenhouse gases, few are aimed at repairing the effects of climate change. The ice-making submarine proposed to do just that.
The ice-making submarine's basic design involves forming a large hexagonal (六边形的) ice block of roughly 25 meters across and 5 meters thick. A large container in the submarine would be filled when submerged under water. Then the slow process of desalination (脱盐) and freezing would begin. After about a month, the submarine would discharge (卸下) the ice block and begin the process all over again. The overall vision would be to have multiple submarines working together, so that the hexagonal blocks could be pushed together to form a single large ice sheet.
The design was beautifully presented and won second place. However, the science behind the design came under criticism. One criticism was how the massive amounts of energy needed to desalinate and freeze the water would be provided. Another was that the amount of heat generated by the freezing process would result in a net warming effect. Additionally, the ice would be too thin to stay frozen for a significant amount of time. The designers couldn't sufficiently answer many of the scientific criticisms. Their inventive idea does, however, indicate the need for creative solutions in repairing the loss of polar ice.
27.The ice-making submarine was designed to ________.
A.explore the ocean B.achieve military purposes
C.record rates of melting polar ice D.make up for the decrease of polar ice
28.The 4th paragraph is mainly about ________.
A.the limitation of the new design B.the process of making ice blocks
C.the features of the ice-making submarines D.the challenges that the designers encountered
29.What can we learn from the passage?
A.The design introduces a unique angle for dealing with climate crisis.
B.The designers are confident about the effectiveness of the submarine.
C.The lost ice can be regained by refreezing in spite of fast melting rate.
D.The ice-making submarine is one of the solutions to reduce greenhouse gases.
30.As for the design of ice-making submarine, the author is ________.
A.doubtful B.disapproving C.supportive D.unconcerned
【答案】27.D 28.B 29.A 30.C
根据文章第一段关键句“The main purpose of this submarine was to create ice blocks to replace sea ice in the Polar Regions.”(这艘潜艇的主要目的是制造冰块来取代极地地区的海冰。)及第二段关键句“But the fast melting rate could mean a permanent loss of polar ice, which would have global consequences.”(但是,快速的融化速度可能意味着极地冰川的永久消失,这将产生全球性的后果。)
根据文章第四段关键句“The ice-making submarine's basic design involves forming a large hexagonal ice block of roughly 25 meters across and 5 meters thick. A large container in the submarine would be filled when submerged under water. Then the slow process of desalination and freezing would begin. After about a month, the submarine would discharge the ice block and begin the process all over again.”(造冰潜艇的基本设计包括形成一个大约25米宽、5米厚的大型六边形冰块。
根据文章第三段关键句“While many solutions look at reducing the greenhouse gases, few are aimed at repairing the effects of climate change. The ice-making submarine proposed to do just that.”(虽然许多解决方案着眼于减少温室气体,但很少有解决方案着眼于修复气候变化的影响。 故选A项。
根据文章最后一段关键句“The designers couldn't sufficiently answer many of the scientific criticisms. Their inventive idea does, however, indicate the need for creative solutions in repairing the loss of polar ice.”(设计师们无法充分回答许多科学上的批评。
D
Now Sea World on the Gold Coast is the only dolphin park in Australia to continue keeping dolphins in captivity. This wouldn't have been possible without thousands of warm-hearted supporters being a voice for dolphins protection over many years.
In August last year, Ben Pearson, our head of campaigns in Australia and New Zealand, appeared before the NSW upper house inquiry into the use wild animals for entertainment to put forward our case for ban on captive Dolphin breeding in the state. “If a dolphin were bred today, it may still be alive in 2070. This regulation frees future dolphins from being kept in lockdown at a time when the public acceptability of keeping dolphins in captivity for entertainment is declining. As the tide turns against using marine mammals in captivity for entertainment, conversation about what will happen to the dolphins at Sea World needs to start now. First step is a ban on further breeding,” Ben Pearson said.
Major travel brands including Tripadvisor and Booking. com have already committed to stop selling tickets to dolphin shows and encounters. As well as these great changes for dolphins from the travel industry, Canada recently passed a ban on keeping dolphins and whales for entertainment. This is part of a global movement towards better treatment of these wild animals, which includes the nations of Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, India, Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland, and the UK.
Dolphins are magnificent, intelligent animals. They belong in the wild and should not be bred in captivity for entertainment. In their natural environment, dolphins swim freely in 100 square kilometres of ocean, sometimes more, but the average dolphin in captivity has a fraction of that space. Together, we can make this the last generation of dolphins in captivity.
31.What makes Sea World on the Gold Coast the only dolphin park?
A.Dolphins take too long a time to feed.
B.People's awareness of protecting dolphins.
C.Sea World on the Gold Coast has enough money.
D.Dolphins in Sea World on the Gold Coast like people's voice.
32.What does the underlined word "tide" mean in the second paragraph?
A.Wave. B.Support. C.Opinion. D.Doubt.
33.What is most likely the result of the measures of the travel industry?
A.More parks for dolphins will be built. B.More dolphins will be kept in parks.
C.Wild animals will live a better life. D.More countries will feed wild animals.
34.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A.Make Dolphins Live Freely B.Protect Sea World on the Gold Coast
C.Change the Ways of Entertainment D.Prevent People from Feeding Animals
【答案】31.B 32.C 33.C 34.A

People with low self-esteem may tell you how much everyone loves them, what a great job they do at work, and how amazing they are at pretty everything under the sun even though they really wonder if it's true. People may see them as obnoxious or "full of themselves". ___36___ They are not shy about sharing ideas, including constructive criticisms of others. They also take care of themselves without second-guessing or apologizing. They are the people who we say seem "sure of themselves".
If you're starting to think you may have low self-esteem, you can work on the way you talk to yourself. When you turn off negative self-talk, you can open the floor to positive reinforcements and access the courage to show different sides of yourself. It isn't going to feel good at first, though. Keep going until it becomes less and less and maybe even a few awkward laughs in the mirror may help. ___37___
However, in serious cases of low or even non-existent self-esteem, you may want to call in a professional or a specialist. Good mental health is important, and professionals doing psychotherapy do not pass judgement or give corrections. ___38___ It is the best way to get at the roots of your real self-esteem problems.
___39___ It will take some work but your entire life—from your relationships to your body image to your work habits—will be touched with the kind of power that only comes from someone believing in themselves. This is the hardest part, and the greatest leap. With some changes and support, you can improve your self-esteem and see how everything else changes as a result.
A.Self-esteem is not always rooted in reality, though.
B.You have the power to shape a new self-perception
C.This encourages you to speak openly without worry.
D.The real test of character is whether they can learn from their mistakes
E.Self-esteem refers to a person's overall sense of his or her value or worth.
F.People with a healthy level of self-esteem present themselves with a casual confidence.
G.With some practice and persistence, you will win this internal struggle to see your self-worth.
【答案】35.A 36.F 37.G 38.C 39.B
35.空格下文“ Someone can develop low self-esteem even when they are highly functional and greatly skilled.”(有些人即使很能干、很有技能,也可能会发展出低自尊。) A“Self-esteem is not always rooted in reality, though.”(然而,自尊并不总是根植于现实。)
36.这段第一句“People with healthy self-esteem don't need to boast about themselves to others. ”(有健康自尊的人不需要向别人吹嘘自己。)可见,整一段都在讲健康自尊的人们。再者空格后“They are not shy about sharing ideas, including constructive criticisms of others. ”(他们不羞于分享想法,包括对他人的建设性批评。)可知,选项F的“People with a healthy level of self-esteem ”与整段的指代一致,故选择F。
37.根据空格前“When you turn off negative self-talk, you can open the floor.....Keep going until it becomes less and less and maybe even a few awkward laughs in the mirror may help.”(当你停止消极的自我对话时,你就能敞开心扉...... G"With some practice and persistence, you will win this internal struggle to see your self-worth."(通过一些练习和坚持,你会赢得这场内在的斗争,看到你的自我价值。)
38.空格前“professionals doing psychotherapy do not pass judgement or give corrections. ”(做心理治疗的专业人员不会通过判断或给予纠正。)可知,这个现象与选项C中指代的this指代一致,专业人员不会判断或者纠正,所以这将鼓励你去放开说。故选择C.
39.空格后“It will take some work but your entire life—from your relationships to your body image to your work habits”(这需要付出一些努力,但你的整个生活——从你的人际关系到你的身体形象,再到你的工作习惯),可知it 指代与选项B"You have the power to shape a new self-perception(你有能力塑造一种新的自我认知)相一致,可知新的自我认知需要一些努力,但会让你受益颇多。故选择B.
第三部分 书面表达(共两节,32分)
第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共12分)
阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英文回答问题。
Until quarantine (隔离期) ends, we are left picturing what physical effort we might make: working out at the gym, playing on a competitive sports team, swimming, biking, or rock climbing. However, we don’t often think of martial arts as a possible activity; instead, we rule it out because we think it’s dangerous, uncommon, and even, impossible. Martial arts isn’t considered a sport, right?
Well, here’s some good news: you're wrong! Martial arts is much more common than people think, and you can start learning at any age. Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). And it’s much less scary and much less difficult than it’s usually portrayed as in movies, so worry not, you don’t need to be the karate kid to have a blast! Let’s look at what you can usually expect from martial arts of any style.
Good martial arts generally requires you to focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs, sometimes even your breathing too. Think about it: when you leave the gym, your mental state has improved and you are much calmer. This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity. It is a great way to clear your head, and practice can help you learn to stay more focused in general (say, when you start your schoolwork afterwards).
Long series of choreographed (编排好的) moves (including when to breath in and out) called forms are often described as “moving meditation (冥想)” ; they’re meditative in the same way doing repeated moves is, but much more so. Martial arts practice can be as slow or as intense as you want, but it’s always extremely engaging.
Martial arts also improves your coordination, and greatly improves your posture. I have personally seen students go from slouching and knocking things over to walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months.
There are many styles and countless subtypes and mix-ups of martial arts. Whichever one appeals to you, know that all of them are good choices, competitive or not.
40.Why isn’t martial arts considered a sport by some people?
41.What should people focus their attention on when doing martial arts?
42.Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why.
Martial arts practice is beneficial because it can not only make us more facially attractive but also help improve our mental state.
43.a) Which type of sport do you prefer, slow sports like yoga, or competitive sports like basketball? Explain why. (about 40 words)
b)Give an example of another Chinese traditional sport and introduce its advantages. (about 40 words)
40.Because some people think it is dangerous, uncommon and even impossible.
41.Focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs, sometimes even your breathing too.
42.在not only make us more facially attractive下边划线。
Because the article only mentioned that the exercise can improve the physical fitness, mental state, did not mention that it can improve people's attractiveness.
43.I prefer more competitive activities, such as basketball, because these sports can make me lose weight and gain muscle, and make my body healthier. I can also make some friends who have the same interest in these sports, and relieve the anxiety of study.
由第一段中的“However, we don’t often think of martial arts as a possible activity; instead, we rule it out because we think it’s dangerous, uncommon, and even, impossible. (然而,我们并不经常认为武术是一种可能的活动;相反,我们排除它,因为我们认为它是危险的,不寻常的,甚至是不可能的。)”可知,有些人不认为武术是一项运动,是因为人们认为武术是危险的,不寻常的,甚至是不可能的。故答案为Because some people think it is dangerous, uncommon and even impossible.。
由第三段中的“Good martial arts generally requires you to focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs, sometimes even your breathing too. (好的武术通常需要你专注于你每一个肢体的位置和动作,有时甚至你的呼吸也需要。)”可知,人们在习武时应该把注意力集中在自己的每一个肢体的位置和动作,有时甚至是呼吸上。故答案为Focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs, sometimes even your breathing too.。
由第二段中的“Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). (练武是保持身体和精神状态的好方法。)”,第三段中的“It is a great way to clear your head, and practice can help you learn to stay more focused in general (say, when you start your schoolwork afterwards). (这是一个让你头脑清醒的好方法,练习可以帮助你学会更集中注意力(比如说,当你以后开始学习的时候)。)”和倒数第二段中的“Martial arts also improves your coordination, and greatly improves your posture. (武术也能提高你的协调能力,大大改善你的姿势。)”可知,练习武术是有益的,它有助于使人集中注意力,改善精神状态,提高协调能力和姿势,并未提及“让我们更有吸引力”,因此在not only make us more facially attractive下面划线。故答案为在not only make us more facially attractive下边划线。
Because the article only mentioned that the exercise can improve the physical fitness, mental state coordination and posture, did not mention that it can improve people's attractiveness.
I prefer more competitive activities, such as basketball, because these sports can make me lose weight and gain muscle, and make my body healthier. I can also make some friends who have the same interest in these sports, and relieve the anxiety of study.。
