2. Ability goals: 1) To understand listening materials; 2) To talk about opinions about rules.
3. Emotional goals: Remind students of the importance of following different rules so that they can create a good atmosphere in life.

Step 1 (2 min): Lead-in - Story Time: Introduce the book No David briefly. - Enjoy a video to show students the different rules that David’s mother tells him. Step 2 (3 min): Presentation - Show pictures about rules. - Ask students to tell what the picture is showing. Step 3 (12 min): Listening Practice Listen to a record and finish two tasks:First find out things Dave can’t do and things he has to do, and ask students to show the result. Then use phrases in the box of 1c to fill the chart in 1b and check the answers. Step 4 (5 min): Pair Work - Fill in the blanks of 1b and ask students work in pairs to make conversations and use the right information in the chart. - Present the new sentences: Can Dave go out on school night? No,he can’t. Yes, he can. Step 5 (8 min): Group Work - Have a debate: Give a topic about rules and divide students into two groups.Ask them to talk their own opinions one by one. Step 6 (5 min): Mini Talk - Ask students to write some rules in different places, make a poster and show it to classmates. Step 7 (6 min):Emotional Education - Show the end of No David and show a video about No Rules in a Rat’s Family. Remind students that parents and schools are sometimes strict, but remember, they make rules to help them. Step 8 (3 min):Mind Map - Summarize how to express rules. Teaching reflection: This topic is close to students’ life. It’s easy for them to understand. With the help of multimedia, students’ interest in studying the topic can be aroused easily because the topic is very practical and common. Emphasize the target language about expressing rules through the whole class and help students know that rules are good for them. After the class, almost all the students can understand the reason of making rules, and they can follow the rules in the future.
