As a student in high schl, I dn't get many pprtunities t dress up. I knw that in America, students get t g t different frmal dances r balls. They even have what they call "prm" befre they graduate, but in China, unless yu g fr a jb interview, yu dn't really need t buy any frmal clthes.
The nly frmal r mre sphisticated clthing item I wn is a nice buttn-dwn shirt. My mther bught it fr me last year fr my cusin's wedding. My mther tk me t the mall and I thught it wuld be easy but we ended up spending the whle afternn there. But after visiting many shps, we fund it!
It's a light blue shirt with lng sleeves. I dn't think it's anything amazing but it's my nly nice shirt with a cllar. I culd wear it fr festivals but we dn't really need t dress up fr Spring Festival. I culd put it n if I ever g t a fancy restaurant in the future. Let me intrduce yu abut the mst famus item f clthing in China. It is a ne-piece dress fr wmen, and we call it a qipa. I think that many freigners call it a mandarin gwn. The qipa is extremely ppular in my cuntry, and actually it's been fashinable fr the last hundred years.
It was first designed during the Qing Dynasty, that is t say in the 17th century, but at the time, the qipa used t be a wide and lse garment fr wmen t wear at any age. The dress wuld cver the whle bdy, and it had a straight cut, and it wuld hang straight dwn the bdy, s that yu culdn't see the ladies’ figures. But after 1900, things changed. In Shanghai, wmen frm the upper-class mdified the style. The dress became tighter, and nwadays wmen still wear this versin f the qipa. It actually accentuates puts emphasis n the shape f a wman's figure.
Nwadays, the dress is very trendy. Designers mix bth traditins and mdern trends t suit wmen's expectatins. The dress has becme shrter, smetimes falling abve the knee. The cllar has als changed. The typical schl unifrm in Fujian cnsists f a white shirt with a dark blue jacket and trusers. It is a very simple ensemble and usually teachers ask their students t wear a pin with the name f the schl n it. Primary schl students als need t wear a red scarf arund their necks. Red is the natinal clr. Children wear what lks like a red triangle n their backs. It represents ne crner f the Chinese flag.
I think wearing a unifrm is a psitive thing fr students because everyne lks identical．It erases the scial differences between students wh cme frm different backgrunds. I will intrduce a very famus kind f tea prduced here in Fujian Prvince. It is called Tie Guan yin and it is cnsidered as premium tea in China.
It is cultivated in suthern Fujian, arund the cunty f Anxi near Quanzhu (nt far frm Xiamen). If yu ever g there, yu will see spectacular tea plantatins n the hills. There are tea bushes everywhere up the muntains and it's really picturesque. Turists like t g there t taste the lcal specialties and take pictures f the stunning scenery.
It is an lng-style tea which is very clse t green tea. The flavr is nt s strng. We describe the taste as flwery, very delicate. When peple drink it, they always say it is sweet and refreshing. There are many different varieties f Tie Guan Yin and they are harvested at different times. The tea leaves have different clrs accrding t the variety and the arma each ne prduces is slightly different. The price als varies accrding t the categry.
