First f all, it is a family hliday. Because my parents are extremely busy with their jbs and I d nt study in my hmetwn, we really cherish the New Year as a time t get tgether and relax. My mther cks a lt f tasty specialties t spil everyne, and she makes sure that my grandparents, my uncles and cusins can all cme t share a great meal r tw．We give presents and mney．It's a time t be generus and cnsiderate with thse we really care abut.
In additin, the Spring Festival represents a new beginning. It's the start f a new year, a new life fr everyne. We must fllw sme traditins t make sure that this New Year will be a lucky (auspicius) ne．First, every single family will stick red scrlls n each side f their drs and windws．When I was a child, my father used t make me paint thse scrlls and he wuld teach me abut Chinese calligraphy. Nwadays we mstly buy them in a shp but we still believe they will scare the evil spirits away. Red is a fundamental clr fr the festival because it symblizes energy and hpe. It is the fficial clr f ur cuntry t. We als need t clean the huse in rder t get rid f all the negative dirt and dust we have accumulated in the last year. Each event has a special meaning. Let me tell yu abut the Dragn Bat Festival we celebrate every year, n the fifth day f the fifth mnth f the lunar calendar.
On Dragn Bat Day, we cmmemrate a patritic pet called Qu Yuan wh drwned in a river. The lcal peple really admired him, and decided t get int sme canes (= bats) and thrw rice dumplings t feed the fish in the river, s that they wuld nt eat Qu Yuan's bdy.
Every year n Dragn Bat Day, in every city arund China, men cmpete n rivers and lakes abard dragn bats．It is a very lively and exciting festival fr many reasns．First f all, the bats are well-decrated. Sme artists carve and paint a dragn head as well as a dragn tail n each side f the bat. Each cane is unique. The men usually cheer and scream while paddling hard. There is usually ne man n each bat wh beats the drums t encurage the paddlers and fix a rhythm.
It is a ppular event and families g t the river tgether t cheer fr the teams. Sme peple light firecrackers, and many crew members wear clrful clthes．Sme even reveal their tatted arms．When I was a child, my father used t take me t the Min River every year, and nw it is my turn t take my child there.
It is a natinal hliday s families can get tgether and enjy a gd meal. Yu knw hw imprtant fd is in China, especially fr festivals. Parents prepare a tn f fd t celebrate.
