Mst peple think that the human brain is set n “autmatic”-that means it learns all by itself. But this isn’t always true. We need t train urselves t be better learners-t actively take part in the learning prcess and t reflect (思考) n what we have learnt. I suggest ding fur things t take an active rle in yur learning.
Listen t the uter vice. There are tw kinds f vices: the inner vice and the uter vice. Yur inner vice expresses yur persnal pinins, while the uter vice tells yu abut pinins frm what yu hear r read. Althugh yur inner vice can be useful, it can als get in the way f learning. If yu keep paying t much attentin t it, yu risk missing imprtant infrmatin. Instead, active learners are pen-minded and fcus n what the speaker r the writer is saying. In this way, they are in a better psitin t make decisins.
Argue with yur inner vice. If yu find yur inner vice difficult t cntrl, yu can argue with it as mst active learners d. When yur inner vice tells yu a speaker r a writer is wrng, think abut why the speaker r the writer may be right. Be flexible (灵活的) in yur pinins and yu might end up agreeing with the speaker r the writer after all. If nt, at least yu have “listened t” anther pint f view.
Ask questins. Asking questins is the easiest way t prmte active learning. When yu get infrmatin frm smene, frm bks r the Internet, ask tw, three, even five questins abut the tpic. The answers will lead yu t further learning, and the very act f wrking ut questins will help yu t achieve a higher level f understanding abut the tpic. In shrt: D nt stp being curius (好奇的).
Get t the truth. Active learners d nt accept everything they learn. They try t find the truth at the heart f each idea. Even when an idea sunds impssible, there may be an aspect f it that is based n truth. S if smene says that dinsaurs still exist (存在) tday, think abut why they believe this. If yu try t find ut the surce f an idea, n matter hw crazy it seems, yu will increase yur chance f learning smething.
27.Accrding t Paragraph 2, we knw ________.
A.ur inner vice is mre useful than uter vice
B.fcusing n the uter vice helps make decisins
C.ur inner vice tells us abut pinins frm what we hear
D.verly fcusing n the inner vice helps get imprtant infrmatin
28.What can we learn frm the passage?
A.The human brain learns things all by itself.
B.If we think a speaker is wrng, vice ur pinins.
C.Active learners refuse the ideas sund impssible directly.
D.Being curius helps t get a better understanding f the tpic.
29.Which f the fllwing wuld be the best title fr the passage?
A.Being CuriusB.Inner and Outer Vices
C.Active LearningD.Chances f Learning
D Bys and Girls Have Different Reading Habits?
The Prgramme fr Internatinal Student Assessment (PISA) is a wrldwide study f 15-year-ld schl pupils’ schlastic perfrmance (学业成绩) in maths, science, and reading. A clser lk at the reading tests, shws the interesting fact that girls are utperfrming (胜过) bys in reading and that this is cnnected with girls’ greater enjyment f reading.
One key area which has a main effect n reading perfrmance, is reading fr enjyment rather than simply fr study r schl wrk purpses. Interestingly, the PISA study fund that in all cuntries except Suth Krea assessed (评估) girls read fr enjyment mre than bys. The study fund that in all the cuntries assessed, just ver half f bys, but almst three-quarters f girls said that they read fr enjyment.
In cuntries such as Estnia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Netherlands, the difference between bys and girls was mst significant (显著的). What’s mre, in places such as Austria, very lw levels f bys expressed interest in reading.
Hwever, in places like Japan, bys and girls read fr enjyment at almst the same level. And there were a few cuntries and places that scred very highly in bys reading enjyment, fr example in Albania, Indnesia, Shanghai in China and Thailand where at least 80% f bys enjy reading. Althugh these psitive numbers are matched and passed by girls wh reprted an even higher level f reading enjyment (90%).
An interesting area which the PISA study lked at was the types f literature that bth girls and bys generally enjy. Bys were fund t enjy reading magazines, newspapers, and cmic bks mre than girls. Girls were fund t be twice as likely t enjy wrks f fictin as bys. This was clearly repeated acrss all cuntries.
While reading in all frms is certainly beneficial and shuld be supprted, the lw numbers f bys reading fr enjyment and their limited chices when they d, is evidence f a prblem that needs t be slved. Cuntries need t think abut ways t inspire interest fr bys in reading and make sure that they are expsed (接触) t a wide variety f different types f literature frm yung age.
The PISA study has helped shw a clear pattern in genders (性别) when it cmes t reading. Lw levels f interest in r enjyment f reading can have lng term effects n future success in life. Fr this reasn, it is imprtant that gvernments, teachers and parents all wrk t find pprtunities and strategies (策略) t raise reading levels. Frtunately, studies such as PISA prvide clear evidence that can be acted n t imprve utcmes fr all yung peple.

A.girls in mst cuntries read fr enjyment mre than bys
B.bys liked t read fr study r schl wrk purpses
C.girls were better in math and science tests than bys
D.bys gt higher marks than girls in reading
31.What d yu knw frm the passage?
A.Few girls enjy reading magazines and newspapers.
B.Bys enjy reading wrks f fictin mre than girls.
C.Mst bys in Shanghai in China enjy reading.
D.Bys in Thailand enjy reading mre than girls.
32.The wrd “inspire” in Paragraph 6 prbably means “________”.
A.lseB.encurageC.expressD.hld

A.teachers shuld ffer students mre chances t imprve reading levels
